POSITION TITLE: CNC Applications Lead Wire EDM (Days 7am to 3:30pm)

LOCATION: Onsite at LSI Solutions in Victor, NY

HOURLY PAY RANGE: $40.00/hour to $50.00/hour

SHIFT HOURS: Monday to Friday (Days 7am to 3:30pm)


JOB SUMMARY: The CNC Application Lead is an integral part of the Machining & Fabrication department. This position is responsible for training and coaching team members to ensure consistent use of standard work, setup and machine monitoring techniques, and ability to respond to data trends. The CNC Applications Lead will work closely with the Fabrication Lead to maintain productivity and quality objectives. They will support continuous improvement initiatives and identify improvement opportunities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

CNC Applications Lead – EDM:

  • Provides technical support for quality controls, process improvements, cost savings, process development projects, etc for the EDM department.
  • Provides support for the development of manufacturing processes on various style Machines.
  • Develops machining solutions for various materials (superalloys, medical grade steels, etc.).
  • Evaluates current legacy parts/programs and manufacturing processes for continuous improvement to existing parts/processes.
  • Support 5S+1 implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the creation of setup sheets and train to effectively execute setups to reduce changeover times and ensure consistency of setups.
  • Responsible for ensuring machine programs are effective, accurate, and controlled.
  • Identify and support the creation of standard work with fabrication engineering to ensure all required processes are performed consistently.
  • Monitor SPC data, assignable causes, and hourly productivity and quality reports to ensure targets are being met and taking appropriate action based on data trends.
  • Train and coach machinist to identify negative trends and how to react or escalate to reduce downtime and scrap.
  • Work with Quality team to ensure inspection equipment, programs, and fixtures are working as planned.
  • Participate in design reviews offering manufacturing insights.
  • Responsible for training and coaching of new and existing employees to ensure consistency across the team for all aspects of setup, machining, and inspections.
  • Support Fabrication Lead to ensure hourly, daily, and weekly production goals are achieved.
  • Assist Fabrication Lead in tracking of consumables inventory to mitigate risk of unplanned downtime.
  • Maintain open and cooperative relationships with colleagues involved in all aspects of the business to promote strong teamwork and cooperation across the company to meet organization requirements.
  • Program, set-up, run parts, inspect, and adjust to produce conforming parts with no supervision.
  • Utilize Partmaker/Esprit- Advanced programming, Mastercam, HSM, Advisor, Mastercam Probing, Verisurf Tools, or Fanuc Robocut Cami to produce CNC code.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures per the LSI Solutions employee manual.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school and / or N.Y.S. Certification Papers preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience working in a machining and fabrication environment with varied methodologies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Expert machinist with extensive experience programming, setting-up, running parts, and troubleshooting with no supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Demonstrated time management, analytical, detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Process Control Plans (PCP) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), and Process Capability analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.
