Sunflower Bank, N.A. is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the full-time position of Commercial Loan Operations Manager Tax & Insurance in Plano, TX.

Description:

The Commercial Loan Operations Manager Tax & Insurance is responsible for managing the team that books and services all Tax and Insurance monitoring and payment. This team will work with vendors to ensure accurate tracking of all property taxes and insurance as well as timely payment for escrowed loans. The team will perform annual Escrow Analysis and if applicable Lender Place insurance.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily workflow of the respective Tax & Insurance Department.
  • Represent Loan Operations in management meetings, communicating known issues and associated status, upcoming changes and/or enhancements, and gathering feedback from internal customers
  • Manage the identification, creation, review and approval, and implementation of processes and procedures, including the ongoing validation processes to ensure compliance
  • Develop, continually enhance and monitor an appropriate staffing model for each distinctive area to ensure staffing levels are adequate in number and skills
  • Identify training needs and work with appropriate parties to develop, deliver and measure effectiveness
  • Provide expertise on the interpretation of complex loan documents and the associated system setup to support
  • Point of contact for internal audit and external regulatory parties, to include providing information requested, participating in status meetings and preparing audit responses as needed
  • Maintain working relationships with required vendors, monitoring vendor performance and capabilities
  • Perform annual budgeting process and monitor expenses against budget throughout the year
  • Develop, communicate, implement and monitor Service Levels where appropriate and provide monthly performance reports to management
  • Develop performance statistics for each applicable area which includes both volume, timing and accuracy information in a format that can be shared with each team as well as management
  • Perform all required personnel responsibilities, including routine performance discussions with all directs and documentation as needed
  • Monitor loan system exception reports to ensure timely resolutions
  • Ensure a partnership with IT resources in the development of new, internal system requirements, including the development of testing scenarios, performing testing and documenting results
  • Successfully complete bank required training within specified timeframes

Education / Experience Preferred:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in banking with at least 5 years in a commercial loan operations area with focus on Escrow.
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience which includes all personnel functions for hiring, performance counseling, merit reviews and terminations
  • College degree preferred but equivalent work experience acceptable
  • Personal knowledge and understanding of Property Tax and Insurance functions. FHLMC (Freddie Mac) experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with commercial loan accounting applications in order to understand capabilities and deficiencies
  • Prior responsibility for the creation of procedural documentation as well as the design and implementation of processes to validate procedures are followed
  • Personal experience dealing with 3rd party auditors and regulatory personnel, including gathering, analyzing and providing any requested information
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, which includes the preparation of audit responses
  • Analytical skills to identify issues and develop solutions, both short term and long term
  • Ability to initiate and sustain working relationships with all levels of co-workers, building trust and mutual respect
  • Capable of identifying and recruiting talent in a proactive manner
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple geographic areas and/or groups
  • Proficiency with systems and ability to understand system functions
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
  • Some travel between department locations required

Pay is dependent on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.

Working Conditions

The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Regular walking may be required, along with occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or climbing. The role may involve lifting or moving items weighing up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
