Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator RN
I. Position Summary:
The Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator RN will actively participate in the ongoing monitoring of the trauma patient from pre-hospital through discharge with the purpose of facilitating continuity and appropriateness of care. Interacts with patients and families to facilitate communication with the Trauma Care Team on trauma care issues and discharge planning. Responsible for data collection and analysis through the concurrent monitoring and chart abstraction processes. Monitors the trauma care rendered to identify problems and trends in the trauma care and compliance with the Trauma Performance Improvements and Patient Safety Program.
I. Qualifications:
A. Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, holds current license as Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. BSN or in the process of obtaining a BSN. MSN preferred. Certification in CEN/CCRN preferred.
B. Training and Experience:
Three (3) years in Emergency/Critical Care of trauma patients is preferred. One (1) year experience in performance improvement and utilization review is preferred.
C. Job Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge of professional standards of nursing, current Emergency/Critical Care/Trauma practice guidelines, coding and DRG's, and MCH Nursing and Emergency/Critical Care/Trauma Services Standards and Policies and Procedures. Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory agencies standards and guidelines. Able to communicate professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.
