About This Position

The Admissions Coordinator (often an Admissions Specialist or Guest Services Coordinator) facilitates the patient intake process for permanent or visiting dialysis, managing referrals via phone, email, and fax. They act as a liaison between hospitals, doctors, and centers to coordinate care, verify insurance (Medicare/Medicaid), and ensure patient information is accurate in compliance with HIPAA. Key tasks include managing patient records, supporting scheduling, handling emergency placements, and enhancing the patient experience.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Intake & Placement: Manage the end-to-end admissions process for new, returning, or visiting patients seeking dialysis treatment.
  • Communication & Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, families, hospital discharge planners, and physicians, fostering strong relationships.
  • Data Management: Accurately input and update patient information in the electronic database, ensuring all required documentation is complete.
  • Insurance Verification: Verify Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance benefits to facilitate proper billing.
  • Emergency Response: Facilitate emergency, short-notice dialysis placements and ensure patient safety during,, crises.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Resolve patient issues, manage complaints, and provide information on treatment options (e.g., in-center, nocturnal).
  • Process Improvement: Adhere to SRD’s standard operating procedures while contributing to workflow improvements in the customer relationship management (CRM) database.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to handle patient queries professionally.
  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in data entry and reviewing patient records.
  • Empathy: Ability to assist patients under stressful circumstances with care.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competence in CRM systems, email, and phone, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of medical terminology and, in some cases, insurance, (e.g., Medicare/Medicaid).
