About This Position
Position Summary: Responsible for carrying out patient care in accordance with physicians' orders. Collects history, performs patient assessments, assisting medical procedures, administers prescribed drugs, managing electronic medical records. Provides professional nursing care for patients across different clinics and specialties, adapting to varied patient needs and staff demands while following established standards and policies. This position requires adaptability, excellent communication, strong clinical skills and the ability to perform both direct patient care and administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient flow.
Responsibilities:
• Collects and assesses initial and on-going data about the health status of the patient.
• Reviews and carries out physician orders in an appropriate professional manner.
• Assisting and performing, wound cleaning and dressing as per care plan, policy, and best practices.
• Assists, or initiates revision of individualized plan of care that includes immediate and long-term outcomes for the patient/family and reflects the plan of the entire health care team.
• Administer injections, medication management, and handle other in-clinic procedures as required.
• Carries out and evaluates patient response to interventions safely and in compliance with policy to facilitate achievement of expected outcomes.
• Provides patient education by explaining procedures, medications and giving instructions at a level the patient can understand; addresses patient’s questions and concerns; verifies patient informed consent when indicated.
• Accurately documents and communicates all required components of patient care in EMR.
• Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
• Follows organizational policies & procedures in providing safe patient care.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, Nurse Lead, Director of Operations and other nurses to ensure quality and continuity of care.
• Attends all mandatory in-services and participates in staff meetings.
• Fulfill other nursing duties as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
BLS certification, or within 2 weeks of hire.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Kansas or has work permit from the State Board of Nursing.
Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree
Clinic nursing experience
Infection Control: Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Trainings could include but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and biohazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.

HIPAA: This position will have access to the following Protected Health Information in order to carry out the duties related to their position at Hays Medical Center based on the following criteria:
Primary – required (routine) to do the job;
Secondary – required for the job, but mostly be exception; and
None – no approved access
