About This Position
Pierce Transit’s Community Development Department is recruiting for our next Community Development Coordinator! This position will build strong business and community partnerships that support the mission and strategic initiatives of Pierce Transit.
The Community Development Coordinator develops and maintains business and community partnerships that support the mission and strategic initiatives of Pierce Transit. In this role, you will promote, sell, and support transit, rideshare, and ORCA pass programs through consultative outreach and education, provide on-site personal visits and customer service assisting with design, implementation, and evaluation of customized worksite transportation programs offering solutions to barriers in ridesharing, supporting rideshare operations by providing customers with safe and reliable transportation information in compliance with Agency and rideshare policies.
The ideal candidate is skilled at engaging with diverse individuals and groups, with a goal of increasing community awareness and promoting Pierce Transit services and projects.
This job is based out of our Lakewood, WA office and will have occasional weekend and evening commitments.

Employees are not covered under the Social Security System except for a 1.45% payment for Medicare.
Pierce Transit provides an ORCA Card benefit for each employee and a family member. This benefit provides free access to service on Pierce Transit, Sound Transit, Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro, Kitsap Transit, Seattle Monorail, Seattle Streetcar, King County Water Taxi and Kitsap Foot Ferry.
PAID LEAVE:
Full-time Pierce Transit employees receive 11 paid holidays, 2 personal paid holidays, 6 days of major sick leave, 22 days of paid time off (PTO) per year, and the ability to earn up to 2 Wellness Days by participating in a qualifying wellness activity and the annual survey. PTO accrual rates increase per policy.

We may be able to help with reimbursing up to $2,500 in moving expenses for those who physically relocate their primary residence to the Pierce/King/Thurston County area (substantiated with receipts). The following functions are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. - Research, solicit, provide sales presentations and negotiate contract terms with new accounts.
- Assists in planning, developing, and implementing employer transportation programs.
- Represents Pierce Transit at Wellness Fairs, Transportation Fairs, and other specialty events. Advocates Pierce Transit’s rideshare program and the benefits the program provides.
- Provides information on topics pertaining requirements for ridesharing, rideshare fares, bus service, Park and Ride locations, payment options for services, and other commute alternatives for specific needs. Prepares detailed correspondence and other materials as needed for the inquirer.
- Create and deliver presentations to community groups/organizations around Pierce Transit projects, initiatives, and programs.
- Develops goals and assists with planning and creating campaigns and programs. Creates, develops, and administers various marketing and promotional materials.
- Generates requisitions and purchase orders. Researches and obtains quotes/bids from vendors.
- Facilitates business partnerships programs and services. Reviews and assesses programs and services to determine changes and improvements.
- Displays regular and consistent attendance.
- Performs related work as required.
Required:
- Associate degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field, and
- Three (3) years of experience establishing new accounts, sales or customer relationship management experience in support of community-based programs.
- Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis

Licensing, certifications, and other legal requirements:
- Individuals must pass a background check.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver license
- The position involves light physical demands, such as exerting up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- May occasionally need to move boxes from 5 to 40 pounds
- Must be able to travel to business sites and community events.
