About This Position

TITLE: L&M Warehouse & Packing Logistics Manager

REPORTS TO: TBD

SUMMARY: The L&M Warehouse & Packing Logistics Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing freight movement to and from all L&M Farms and Warehouses. This role is key driver in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of drivers and equipment, directly impacting the operation of the Company’s supply chain. By collaborating with sales, warehouses, farms, vendors, and customers, this position fosters operational excellence and upholds the Company’s dedication to exceptional service and performance standards.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

LOCATION: East Palatka, Florida

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with internal teams (warehouses, farms, sales) and external vendors/customers to optimize truck usage and support L&M’s logistics operations
  • Recruit and develop a driver program to attract and retain top talent for long-term careers with L&M
  • Oversee the expansion of the warehouse transportation division, scaling up to 15 trucks within a network of Farms and Warehouses, including a combination of company-owned, leased, and independent operator trucks
  • Develop and implement a top-tier safety program to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
  • Establish a high standard of service for L&M’s transportation assets, creating demand from customers and vendors who prefer L&M’s fleet over external carriers
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive maintenance plan for both preventive and emergency repairs of trucks and trailers
  • Collaborate with all departments to reduce operating costs by coordinating partial loads, consolidating shipments, and maximizing backhauls to eliminate empty trailer space

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams

  • Extensive knowledge of trucking industry best practices, including safety and delivery
  • Understanding of basic vehicle mechanics and identifying when major repairs are needed
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and multitask efficiently in a dynamic environment

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in the trucking/logistics industry required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Combination of dynamic, fast-paced office settings and Warehouses/fleet environments, where loud noises and active transportation operations may be encountered
  • Requires occasional physical tasks, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds when needed for inspections, or assisting with minor warehouse duties
  • Exposure to outdoor environments and varying weather conditions may occur when overseeing transportation operations and equipment inspections

TRAVEL:

  • Occasional travel between L&M Farms, L&M Warehouses, and vendors within the Company’s network
