Position summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to operate the APEX Sander, small Router, and to float within the Metal Finishing and Deburring Department assisting those within the department to complete tasks.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Operate APEX Sander, with a digital computer operating system.
- Cleaning and maintaining the APEX Sander which involves using a metal scrapper to remove debris and particles under / going underneath the machinery.
- Operate small Router
- Move within the department to assist employees with open tasks.
- Review router, drawings, specifications or sample parts to determine finish condition of work pieces, sequence of operations, and set up requirements.
- Buff, polish, grind, sand, and deburr the surfaces of metal parts using hand tools, power tools, and knowledge of metal finishing techniques; examine the surface of metal to detect defects, such as dents, scratches, or breaks in metal.
- Ensure parts are marked with part and customer numbers for traceability purposes.
- Package parts in accordance with customer and company requirements.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment; perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment as needed.
- Work with a variety of calipers or micrometers.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Incumbent will be required to use a computer with keyboard, telephone or handheld mobile device for extended periods of time, and office machinery as needed.
- Individual will be required to use basic hand and measuring tools, such as sanders, calipers, or micrometers.
- The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts while performing the duties of this job.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
- Work involves occasional exposure to unpleasant elements, such as fumes, loud noises, etc.
- Individual will be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally, and/or up to twenty (20) pounds frequently, and/or up to ten (10) pounds constantly.
- Work involves long periods of standing.
- Incumbent must be able to read, see, hear, and speak.
Work days and shifts:
Position works Monday – Friday, daylight hours, and additional time as needed to complete work.
Standard shift is Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM; or 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Education/Certification(s)/License(s) required:
High School Diploma or GED; and/or equivalent work experience.
Experience/Other required:
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to interpret blueprints.
- Dependability to complete tasks on time, and to assist others.
- Ability to become Forklift certified through IGS industries Inc.
