OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Support Specialist provides a vital combination of administrative coordination and hands-on clinical assistance within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment. This role supports providers and provides direct services with member needs, activities or service in the daily operation of program. The clinical support specialist also manages key administrative functions including scheduling, documentation, and electronic health records (EHR) maintenance.

  • Ability to effectively interact with diverse employee populations including functional client groups


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Take and document clients' vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature) for their scheduled
  • Maintain open and/or closed member files
  • Schedule all hospital discharge appointments
  • Maintain and update injection tracking log
  • Ensure hospital discharge records are in chart
  • Reschedule all no-show appointments for provider/RN
  • Manage provider schedules
  • Filing of labs and medical records in member’s charts
  • Assists with processing of PCP notifications
  • Assist providers and nurses with coordinating care from outside providers
  • Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Attend meetings as assigned or directed
  • Assist with other administrative duties as needed and assigned by supervisor
  • Works collaboratively with the clinical team in implementing services and coordination of care
  • Provides direct services and assistance with member needs, activities or service in the daily operation of program
  • Ensure billing and production expectations are met monthly
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education /Background:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Some experience from which knowledge and skills can be utilized to perform general clerical work
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant (MA) program from an accredited institution
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) is preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Have excellent phone etiquette, be customer service driven and able to multitask
  • Have basic typing/computer skills
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Must possess knowledge of MS Office (word, excel, outlook, access)
  • Must successfully complete the agency’s orientation and demonstrate competence regarding skills and knowledge
  • Ability to communicate clearly ad effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Preferred, but not required, bilingual in English and Spanish
