Southeastern Rheumatology Alliance is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant in our Atlanta, GA practice.
About the Role:
The Certified Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by delivering high-quality clinical and administrative assistance in a medical setting. This position ensures efficient patient flow by preparing patients for examinations, recording vital signs, and assisting with procedures such as phlebotomy and other diagnostic tests. The role requires a thorough understanding of medical terminology and general medical practices to accurately document patient information and communicate effectively with healthcare teams. The Certified Medical Assistant also contributes to patient care by providing compassionate support and education, ensuring a positive patient experience. Ultimately, this role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of medical offices and clinics, directly impacting patient outcomes and provider efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program.
- Proven experience in clinical tasks such as taking vital signs and performing phlebotomy.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and general medical procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and medical office administrative duties.
Ability to work effectively under the supervision of healthcare providers, including nurse practitioners.
A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
Experience with EMR Systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working directly with nurse practitioners in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in medical office software and scheduling systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and communication.
- Prior experience in a fast-paced medical office or outpatient clinic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examination by taking and recording vital signs and medical histories.
- Assist healthcare providers, including nurse practitioners, during patient examinations and procedures.
- Manage patient records and documentation using medical terminology accurately and efficiently.
- Schedule patient appointments, handle medical secretary duties, and coordinate communication between patients and healthcare staff.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.
Documenting patient plan(s) of care, tests, and examination results in the EMR.
