Description: JOB SUMMARY

The Stockroom Associate is an entry-level role responsible for performing routine material handling tasks in a process-driven, regulated manufacturing environment. Performs the physical or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and order fulfillment of merchandise, products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment. Checks goods received and for distribution against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of goods and rejects unsatisfactory items. Packages and prepares products and merchandise for final shipment and posts weights and shipping charges. Lifts heavy items and may operate a forklift. Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped. Reviews customer orders, examines, stocks and distributes merchandise, products and materials in inventory warehouses, distribution centers or manufacturing lines. The Stockroom Associate works under close supervision, follows detailed instructions, and contributes through personal effort to support daily production and operational needs.

COMPLEXITY & PROBLEM SOLVING

Works on assignments that are routine in nature requiring limited judgment. Problems encountered will typically be well defined, repetitive, and routine with readily available solutions. Little or no role is expected in decision-making. Impact will be limited to the delivery of own work tasks which are managed on a day-to-day or task-by-task basis. Financial/business impact is typically limited and hard to measure; Awareness of cost and profitability of operations is not required. This position may lead to growth in working on assignments that are semi-routine in nature and selects best option from a set of defined procedures/solutions using common sense and experience of similar situations. Problems are typically known, defined, and readily apparent, however some issues may occasionally require fact finding to resolve. Impact will be limited, typically to the immediate team although wider impact likely in customer facing roles. Financial accountability is limited to awareness of costs and/or service level requirements and expectations.

Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Works under close supervision. Supports the achievement of goals through personal effort in own work area. Interaction with others is limited to own team with little requirement for internal or external contact. This role may lead to growth in following established procedures on routine work, requires instructions only on new assignments. Supports the achievement of goals through personal effort in own work area. Interacts with a range of individuals both within and outside immediate team to convey basic information. Interaction is of a day-to-day nature, requiring a professional manner, customer service skills, common courtesy, and tact.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

Material Handling & Stockroom Operations

  • Perform routine material handling tasks including receiving, put-away, picking, kitting, issuing, packing, and shipping of materials.
  • Move materials within the stockroom or manufacturing areas using approved methods and equipment.
  • Support production by assembling kits or staging materials according to work instructions and schedules.

Shipping & Receiving Support

  • Assist with receiving incoming materials by unloading, verifying quantities, and routing items as instructed.
  • Prepare outbound shipments by packaging materials, labeling, and staging shipments for carrier pickup.
  • Follow established procedures to ensure accuracy and prevent damage or loss.

Process Adherence & Accuracy

  • Follow detailed work instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Complete routine tasks with limited judgment; escalate issues or discrepancies to supervision.
  • Ensure basic accuracy in material handling and documentation as directed.

Team Support & Communication

  • Work closely with team members and supervisors to complete assigned tasks.
  • Interact primarily with the immediate work team to exchange routine information.
  • Maintain a professional, cooperative approach within the stockroom environment.

Experience & Education

  • Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience
  • Entry point into unskilled or semi-skilled material handling roles
  • No formal occupational training or certification typically required
  • Prior warehouse or manufacturing experience is a plus but not required

Level & Impact (Entry S1 Alignment)

  • Acquires job skills and learns company policies and procedures
  • Performs routine, repetitive assignments with limited judgment
  • Works under close supervision and receives detailed instructions
  • Impact is limited to the completion of assigned tasks
  • Little or no role in decision-making

Requirements: EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

Entry level position requires 1 year or less of related experience. No formal occupational training is required, assessment will be based on preferences and a willingness to learn and ability to take on tasks, attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in data entry with attention to detail in any capacity
  • Known ability to learn computer systems effectively in any prior industry.
  • Transferrable skills to the job description that may enhance the training capacity once hired.
