Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Grading Foreman to lead and oversee grading operations on construction sites. This pivotal role involves managing grading crews, ensuring project specifications are met with precision, and maintaining safety and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess strong construction management skills, extensive site supervision experience, and a thorough understanding of grading techniques, blueprints, schematics, and construction software tools. Your leadership will drive efficiency, uphold safety protocols, and ensure that all grading activities align with project timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate grading crews to execute earthwork operations efficiently and safely on construction sites
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to ensure accurate grading according to project specifications
- Utilize construction management software such as ProCore, Primavera P6, HeavyBid, and Bluebeam for scheduling, tracking progress, and document control
- Oversee quality control measures by inspecting grading work using tools like the ohmmeter and ensuring adherence to safety standards including OSHA regulations
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of work quality
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to review plans, resolve issues related to schematics or pipeline installations, and ensure smooth workflow
- Supervise subcontractors and labor crews on-site; provide training on construction site safety practices and use of heavy equipment
- Conduct regular site inspections for safety compliance, quality assurance, and progress tracking; address any issues promptly
- Maintain detailed records of daily activities, safety reports, inspection logs, and project documentation using construction management software
Qualifications:
- Proven supervisory experience in heavy civil construction projects with a focus on grading or earthwork operations
- Extensive knowledge of construction site practices including blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and construction estimating
- Familiarity with construction management software such as ProCore, Primavera P6 (Primavera), Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and Primavera P6 for project planning and documentation
- Hands-on experience operating or supervising the use of heavy machinery like graders, bulldozers, excavators; proficiency with tools like ohmmeters for electrical inspections
- Strong understanding of OSHA safety regulations related to construction sites; ability to enforce safety protocols effectively
- Background in managing project budgets, contracts, and scheduling to ensure timely completion within financial parameters
- Excellent management skills with a track record of supervising teams effectively while fostering a culture of safety and quality assurance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Communications: Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English
- Hearing: Hearing adequate to perform job duties in person
- Speaking: Able to communicate clearly in person and over phone
- Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties as indicated
- Physical: Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing and pulling heavy objects regularly throughout the work shift
- Ability to work in sun, heat, and various climate conditions
- Ability to work in dirty and dusty conditions
- Requires manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform manual tasks
- Able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds without assistance
