Description:

The Install Division Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and growing the Install Division of Sarver Landscape. This position owns all production, revenue, gross profit, job costing, scheduling, team development, quality control, customer communication, and operational performance for the division.

The Install Division Manager reports directly to the President and is accountable for ensuring install work is completed safely, efficiently, profitably, and to Sarver Landscape’s quality standards. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on field management and is expected to drive division performance through planning, people leadership, process discipline, and strong financial oversight.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Install Division Manager role is to ensure that all installation projects are produced on time, on budget, safely, and at the quality level expected by Sarver Landscape customers. This position is responsible for converting sold work into profitable production, protecting customer relationships, developing field leaders, and achieving the division’s annual revenue and profit goals.

Requirements:

Division Leadership & Strategy

? Develop and execute an annual Install Division production plan aligned with company goals.

? Own the division’s revenue, production capacity, gross profit, labor efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction results.

? Translate company goals into clear weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual production targets.

? Participate in leadership meetings and report division performance, issues, forecasts, and improvement plans to the President.

? Identify opportunities to improve systems, staffing, pricing feedback, production flow, and overall division profitability.

? Ensure the Install Division operates in alignment with Sarver Landscape’s standards for Character, Quality, Respect, and Safety.

Production Management

? Oversee all landscape installation production from project handoff through completion.

? Manage project schedules, crew assignments, material coordination, equipment needs, subcontractors, and daily/weekly production priorities.

? Ensure install projects are completed according to approved scopes, plans, budgets, timelines, and customer expectations.

? Review upcoming work and confirm that crews have the labor, materials, equipment, information, and direction needed to execute efficiently.

? Monitor job progress in the field and make adjustments to protect schedule, quality, safety, and profitability.

? Coordinate with sales, design, and administrative teams to ensure a smooth handoff from sale to production.

? Lead or participate in pre-construction meetings, project kickoff meetings, job walks, and post-project reviews.

? Ensure change orders are identified, documented, priced, approved, and communicated before extra work is performed.

Revenue, Job Costing & Financial Performance

? Own the Install Division revenue goal and ensure sold work is produced in a timely and profitable manner.

? Monitor job budgets, labor hours, material costs, equipment usage, subcontractor costs, and gross profit performance.

? Review job costing regularly and take corrective action when jobs are trending over budget.

? Identify production issues that negatively impact profitability and implement solutions.

? Provide feedback to sales and estimating on pricing, production assumptions, labor budgets, material needs, and project complexity.

? Work with the President to forecast revenue, backlog, staffing needs, and production capacity.

? Ensure completed work is properly documented and invoiced.

? Support accurate and timely invoicing by confirming project status, completion, change orders, and billable items.

Team Leadership & Development

? Lead, manage, and hold accountable Install Division team members.

? Recruit, train, coach, and develop Production Managers, Crew Leaders, and Crew Members.

? Establish clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, professionalism, and communication.

? Conduct regular meetings with production leaders to review schedules, job performance, staffing, equipment needs, and customer issues.

? Build a strong bench of field leadership by developing Crew Leaders and high-potential team members.

? Address performance issues promptly and professionally.

? Promote a positive, respectful, team-oriented culture in the field and within the company.

? Ensure crews understand the job scope, daily goals, expected production rates, safety requirements, and quality standards.

Quality Control & Customer Experience

? Ensure all install work meets Sarver Landscape quality standards and customer expectations.

? Visit and inspect active job sites regularly for quality, efficiency, cleanliness, professionalism, and safety.

? Review completed work before final closeout whenever appropriate.

? Ensure job sites are maintained in a clean, organized, safe, and professional condition.

? Proactively communicate project updates, delays, issues, and changes to the appropriate internal team members and customers when needed.

? Coordinate with Account Managers, Sales, and Design to protect customer satisfaction and resolve concerns quickly.

? Track customer feedback and use it to improve production processes and team performance.

Safety & Risk Management

? Ensure all Install Division work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

? Hold production teams accountable for safe equipment operation, proper PPE usage, safe driving, and safe job-site practices.

? Identify hazards and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.

? Ensure crews are properly trained on equipment, tools, vehicles, materials, and job-site procedures.

? Support accident prevention, incident reporting, and follow-up corrective actions.

? Protect company assets by ensuring responsible use and care of vehicles, trailers, tools, equipment, and materials.

Equipment, Materials & Fleet Coordination

? Plan and coordinate equipment, vehicle, tool, and material needs for install projects.

? Ensure materials are ordered, staged, delivered, and available when needed.

? Coordinate with internal operations, mechanics, vendors, and suppliers to reduce downtime and keep crews productive.

? Ensure equipment and vehicles are maintained, inspected, cleaned, and used appropriately.

? Control waste, rework, unnecessary rentals, inefficient material handling, and preventable damage.

Systems, Communication & Administration

? Use company systems and operational software to manage schedules, job information, production notes, job costing, crew assignments, and project updates.

? Ensure required documentation is completed accurately and on time.

? Maintain clear communication between the President, sales/design team, account managers, production leaders, administrative staff, vendors, subcontractors, and customers.

? Develop and improve standard operating procedures for the Install Division.

? Maintain accurate project records, including job notes, photos, change orders, completion documentation, and closeout information.

Key Performance Indicators

? Install Division revenue produced against annual goal.

? Gross profit and job-cost performance.

? Labor efficiency and budgeted hours versus actual hours.

? Schedule completion and backlog management.

? Quality of completed work.

? Customer satisfaction and issue resolution.

Required Qualifications

? Strong landscape installation production experience.

? Proven ability to lead field teams and manage multiple crews or projects.

? Strong understanding of job costing, labor budgets, gross profit, scheduling, and production planning.

? Ability to read and understand scopes of work, plans, estimates, and project documents.

? Strong communication and leadership skills.

? Ability to hold team members accountable while maintaining a respectful and professional culture.

? Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions in the field.

? Working knowledge of landscape installation practices, including planting, grading, drainage, sod, mulch, hardscape coordination, site preparation, and related production activities.

? Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

? Ability to use company software, email, spreadsheets, and mobile technology.

Preferred Qualifications

? Experience managing a landscape installation division or large-scale production department.

? Experience with snow, maintenance, enhancement, or broader green-industry operations.

? Experience developing Crew Leaders or Production Managers.

? Knowledge of estimating, change orders, subcontractor management, and project closeout.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

This position requires regular travel to job sites and company locations. The Install Division Manager must be able to work in outdoor conditions, walk job sites, inspect work, communicate with crews, and occasionally assist with field coordination as needed. The role may require extended hours during peak production seasons.

The Install Division Manager is expected to act as the owner of the Install Division. This means anticipating problems before they become issues, protecting profitability, developing people, communicating clearly, and ensuring that every project reflects Sarver Landscape’s standards.
