The Senior Research Specialist will support research projects through rigorous data collection, analysis, and project coordination. The role requires strong ownership of research activities, technical execution, and the ability to independently manage complex tasks while contributing to broader research goals.

• Collect, clean, harmonize, and analyze original datasets related to economic inequality, income, wages, and financial well-being.
• Work with large-scale and proprietary datasets while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality of research outputs.
• Conduct independent quantitative research with limited supervision, applying statistical and econometric methods.
• Develop and manage research tools, experiment designs, surveys, and data collection processes.
• Support project management activities, including organizing research logistics, experiments, and data collection initiatives.
• Conduct literature reviews, summarize research findings, and support the preparation of research documentation and materials.
• Perform interviews, focus groups, and survey implementation activities independently.
• Support academic programming, events, and administrative activities related to research initiatives.
• Assist with digitization efforts for archival materials and the transformation of historical information into usable datasets.
• Contribute to research communication by preparing summaries, reports, and online research materials.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related quantitative field, with demonstrated programming ability and experience working with complex datasets. They should be comfortable conducting independent research and applying analytical methods to real-world questions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of statistics, econometrics, probability theory, and quantitative research methods.
• Proven programming skills in Python and R, with experience developing reliable and maintainable code.
• Experience working with large datasets, data cleaning, transformation, and analysis workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and research accuracy.
• Experience conducting empirical research or comparable analytical work in a professional environment.
• Ability to manage research projects independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
• Strong written communication skills with experience preparing research summaries or technical documentation.
• Familiarity with Stata, SAS, Matlab, LaTeX, Unix/Linux environments, or similar tools is a plus.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects or applying test-driven development practices is highly valued.
• A Master’s degree in a related field is desirable but not required.
• Must be located in the United States and eligible to work remotely from within the country.
