Job Description

Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) seeks a Project Specialist to join our Employer Reporting team. This position partners with colleagues across the organization and with employers throughout Maine to improve processes, develop training resources, and coordinate projects that enhance the accuracy and efficiency of retirement reporting.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate projects from planning through completion, tracking milestones, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Facilitating communication among project stakeholders, scheduling meetings, providing updates, and keeping projects moving forward.
  • Developing and maintaining procedures, user guides, training materials, manuals, and video scripts that help staff and employers work more effectively.
  • Gathering feedback from employers and staff, researching solutions, and helping prioritize improvement initiatives.
  • Preparing project reports, presentations, meeting minutes, and supporting documentation.
  • Reviewing ERAA account adjustments for accuracy and ensuring appropriate documentation is provided.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with five years of progressive experience, a post-secondary degree and seven years related work experience, OR any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel at the Intermediate level.
  • Prior experience managing projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with processing payroll, general understanding of payroll applications.
  • The anticipated starting salary is typically near the minimum of the pay range. Initial placement within the range will be determined based on the successful candidate's relevant education, experience, skills, and other job-related qualifications.

  • Work-Life Balance – MainePERS provides 13 paid holidays, 12 days of sick leave, 2 days of personal leave, and 12 days of vacation leave annually. Vacation leave accrual increases with years of service.
  • Health Insurance Coverage – MainePERS pays for 65%-95% of health insurance based on the employee’s annual salary and person covered (dependent or employee)
  • Health Insurance Premium Credit – Participation decreases employee-only premiums by 5%.
  • Dental Insurance – MainePERS pays 100% of dental insurance premiums for employees and their dependents

  • Defined Benefit Pension Plan – MainePERS contributes 10.2% of pay to pension on behalf of the employee.

  • Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts – Set aside money pre-tax to help pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses and/or daycare expenses.

  • Parental leave - Paid parental leave for childbearing and adoption is available to an employee for up to 42 calendar days to support new parents in bonding and caring for a new child. Additionally, unpaid leave may also be available, under the Family and Medical Leave Act .
  • Voluntary Deferred Compensation – Save additional pre-tax funds for retirement in a 457(b) and 401(a) accounts through payroll deductions.
