Experienced General Dental Assistant

Lifetime Dental Care is looking for an experienced General Dental Assistant to join our busy, fast-paced, patient-centered practice. The General Dental Assistant plays an important role in supporting our doctors, improving clinical efficiency, and creating an outstanding patient experience.
The ideal candidate is confident, organized, adaptable, clinically knowledgeable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with both routine and advanced dental procedures.
What You’ll Do
Clinical Assisting
Assist dentists with restorative, preventive, and comprehensive general dentistry procedures
Assist with crown and bridge procedures, including preparation, temporization, cementation, and follow-up
Assist with implant restorative and surgical cases
Support advanced restorative procedures and complex treatment
Perform digital intraoral scanning for crowns, bridges, implants, night guards, orthodontic cases, and other digital workflows
Prepare and set up operatories for general, pediatric, sedation, and emergency appointments
Take high-quality digital radiographs including:
Bitewings
Periapicals
Occlusal images
Panoramic images
Assist with nitrous oxide monitoring according to office protocols
Provide chairside support during emergency and urgent care visits
Obtain and update medical histories
Review medications, allergies, and relevant health conditions
Provide clear post-operative instructions to patients and parents
Support treatment presentation and reinforce doctor recommendations
Advanced General Dentistry
We are especially interested in candidates who enjoy learning and assisting with:
Crown and bridge
Implant dentistry
Digital impressions and scanning
Cosmetic dentistry
Night guards and occlusal appliances
Root canal therapy
Surgical extractions
Restorative dentistry
Same-day treatment
Emergency dentistry
Comprehensive treatment planning
Experience in all areas is not required, but a strong desire to learn and grow is important.
Digital Dentistry
We value assistants who are comfortable with technology and interested in expanding their digital skills.
Experience with the following is a plus:
Intraoral scanners
iTero or similar scanning systems
Digital radiography
CBCT imaging
Digital treatment planning
Electronic charting and clinical documentation
Sterilization & Clinical Organization
Follow OSHA, infection control, and sterilization protocols
Maintain clean, safe, and organized operatories
Prepare instruments and materials before procedures
Assist with instrument processing and sterilization throughout the day
Maintain proper operatory stocking
Help ensure smooth room turnover between patients
Identify supply or equipment needs before they disrupt patient care
Team Collaboration

Work collaboratively with dentists, hygienists, assistants, and administrative team members
Step in and assist teammates when needed

What We’re Looking For
Minimum 4 years of dental assisting experience
Virginia dental radiography certification
Strong understanding of general dental procedures
Experience with crown and bridge procedures
Interest or experience in implant dentistry
Digital scanning experience preferred
Experience with nitrous oxide and pre-/post-operative protocols
CPR certification
Strong chairside assisting skills
Excellent communication and patient service skills
Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable working with adults, children, and teens
Reliable, punctual, and dependable
Positive attitude and strong team mentality
Desire to continue learning and developing advanced clinical skills
