Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst based in South Africa.
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will serve as a strategic finance partner to communications, marketing, and other functional teams within a global, mission-driven organization.
You will turn complex financial data into clear insights that help leaders make smarter decisions about resources, investments, and priorities.
The role combines financial planning, forecasting, modeling, reporting, and strategic analysis with meaningful cross-functional collaboration.
You’ll build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and help non-finance teams understand the financial implications of their decisions.
Your analysis will support global programs, campaigns, events, and initiatives while helping ensure resources are deployed efficiently and responsibly.
You’ll work independently within a distributed, multicultural, remote-first environment spanning multiple time zones.
This is an opportunity to combine strong analytical expertise with purpose-driven work and have a measurable impact on a globally recognized nonprofit mission.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning for Communications and other assigned functional teams, aligning financial resources with strategic and organizational priorities.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models that identify trends, highlight risks, uncover opportunities, and support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including variance analysis, KPIs, forecasts, and other management insights.
- Translate complex financial information into clear recommendations and narratives that can be understood and acted upon by non-finance stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Act as a trusted Finance Business Partner to functional leaders, helping them navigate planning cycles and make informed resourcing and investment decisions.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Communications, Marketing, and other teams to understand their objectives and provide relevant financial guidance.
- Monitor financial performance and proactively identify areas where plans, spending, or resource allocation may require adjustment.
- Identify inefficiencies in financial planning, reporting, and tracking processes and lead initiatives to improve systems, workflows, and overall effectiveness.
- Support strategic cross-functional projects by providing financial analysis, business cases, scenario modeling, and recommendations.
- Contribute financial expertise to major initiatives such as global campaigns, grant-funded programs, community events, and other organization-wide investments.
- Present financial insights and recommendations to managers, program owners, executives, and other stakeholders.
- Help strengthen financial planning and reporting practices across the organization through continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in financial analysis, financial planning, FP&A, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets, with the ability to build reliable, practical financial models.
- Experience using modern financial modeling, reporting, and data visualization tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the curiosity to investigate what the numbers mean rather than simply report them.
- Ability to translate complex financial concepts and data into clear, compelling insights for non-finance stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to engage effectively with senior executives and functional leaders.
- Strong business partnering skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality work in a distributed, remote environment.
- Comfortable collaborating across multiple time zones and within a multicultural organization.
- Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to understand the broader strategic context behind financial decisions.
Nice to have:
- Hands-on experience with Workday Adaptive Planning.
- Experience working in global nonprofit finance, grant management, or international financial operations.
- Experience supporting Communications, Marketing, or other non-finance functions as a Finance Business Partner.
- Familiarity with mission-driven organizations or environments where financial resources are closely tied to social impact.
- A personal connection to open-web, free-knowledge, or community-driven initiatives.
- Fully remote position with eligibility for candidates based in South Africa.
- Remote-first working environment designed for globally distributed teams.
- Opportunity to contribute directly to a mission-driven organization with worldwide reach and impact.
- Strategic Finance Business Partner role with meaningful exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional decision-making.
- Opportunity to work on complex global financial planning, reporting, modeling, and strategic initiatives.
- Inclusive and multicultural working environment that values diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
- High degree of autonomy and flexibility within a distributed organization.
- Opportunity to develop your financial strategy, business partnering, and analytical expertise while supporting a globally impactful mission.
- Compensation designed to be competitive and equitable, with location, skills, experience, and role scope taken into consideration.
- Employee benefits and employment arrangements aligned with the country of hire.
