Description:

We are searching for a Mechanical Technician – HVAC/Boiler/Chiller o support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical mechanical building systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who enjoys solving complex equipment challenges, working directly with clients, and ensuring reliable performance of HVAC and mechanical systems across commercial and industrial facilities.

This position supports a variety of facility systems, including chillers, boilers, HVAC equipment, pumps, air handling systems, and associated mechanical infrastructure. The Mechanical Technician will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, equipment assessments, and technical support at client sites.

This is a field-based position requiring regular travel between project sites and client facilities. Candidates near our Lakewood or Grand Junction offices are welcome to work in-office and in a hybrid capacity when applicable.

Requirements:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, inspect, maintain, and support repair activities for commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical systems, including boilers, chillers, air handling units, pumps, hydronic systems, and related equipment.
  • Evaluate mechanical systems including steam and hot water boiler applications, central plant equipment, four-pipe HVAC systems, and associated components.
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, retro-commissioning, startup support, performance evaluations, and troubleshooting activities to verify safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
  • Support development and execution of commissioning and retro-commissioning procedures, documentation, and functional testing activities.
  • Perform combustion analysis and evaluate equipment performance to identify operational improvements and energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Inspect HVAC installations and mechanical systems to verify installation quality, operation, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Review construction documents, equipment submittals, specifications, and technical documentation to support project execution.
  • Interpret HVAC controls sequences, temperature control diagrams, and mechanical system documentation.
  • Evaluate commercial and industrial duct systems, including supply, return, exhaust, ventilation, and dust collection systems.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, subcontractors, technicians, and project teams to troubleshoot issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Participate in project meetings, site assessments, inspections, and technical discussions.
  • Support installation teams, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior technicians as needed.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, reports, test results, and project records.
  • Follow all safety procedures while working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, industrial environments, and other field locations.
  • Manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality technical support in a consulting environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience servicing, troubleshooting, commissioning, or maintaining HVAC, boiler, and chiller systems in commercial or industrial environments.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • HVAC, boiler, controls, or mechanical systems training preferred; equivalent field experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Hydronic heating systems
    • Steam and hot water boilers
    • Chillers and central plant equipment
    • Pumps, valves, piping, burners, and controls
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and test equipment to evaluate mechanical system performance.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, equipment documentation, control diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with HVAC controls, sequences of operation, and troubleshooting building automation systems preferred.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, retro-commissioning, testing, adjusting, balancing (TAB), or performance optimization activities preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, contractors, and project teams.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Safety-focused with the ability to work in industrial environments, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.
  • Ability to travel between client sites and project locations.

Background Check and Site Access

  • Candidate must successfully pass a background check, which may include verification of employment, education, and other records in accordance with state, local, and federal requirements.
  • A valid driver’s license must be possessed and maintained.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain access authorization for government and other secured facilities and sites is required.
