Job Description

The Part-Time Veteran Academic Liaison will serve as a vital support role within the BHCC Veterans Center, assisting the Academic Coordinator for Veteran Services with administrative and academic-related needs. The position involves data entry, coordinating veteran benefits, managing student information, and providing personalized support to veterans as they navigate their academic journey. This role requires an empathetic and resourceful individual with strong organizational skills and a passion for helping veterans achieve success in their education.

Responsibilities:

  • Veteran Benefits Management: Accurately enter and manage data related to student veteran benefits, ensuring timely processing and documentation.
  • Student Veteran Information Coordination: Compile, sort, and file student veteran records and information for review by the Academic Coordinator.
  • Administrative Support: Assist the Academic Coordinator with day-to-day administrative tasks, record keeping, and filing for the BHCC Veteran Center.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrate resourcefulness in finding answers to student veterans' questions, helping them navigate challenges and access the right services.

Requirements:

  • CRM Literacy: Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems or similar data management tools.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate with student veterans and staff, demonstrating patience and understanding of the unique challenges veterans face.
  • Problem-Solving: Able to troubleshoot and research answers to complex questions, ensuring student veterans receive accurate and actionable information.
  • Resourceful & Reliable: Demonstrated ability to find and share concrete solutions, ensuring that veterans get the support they need in a timely manner.
  • Attention to Detail: Accurate data entry and record keeping with an emphasis on confidentiality and precision.
  • Veteran-Centered Approach: Genuine interest in serving and supporting veterans, with an understanding of the challenges they face in the academic environment.

Preferred Requirement:

  • Prior experience working with student veterans or in veteran services is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the VA (Veterans Affairs) benefits system.

Additional Information:

Salary: $22/Hour. Part-time Non-benefited position

Location: BHCC Veterans Center (Boston, MA)
Hours: M-F, 18.5 Hours per week
