Back End Software Engineer, Microsoft Azure Technologies

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Back End Software Engineer, Microsoft Azure Technologies in the United States.

This role sits within an innovation-driven engineering environment focused on building next-generation cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure. You will design and develop scalable backend systems that power SaaS platforms and support real-world cybersecurity capabilities at enterprise scale. The position blends hands-on engineering with R&D exploration, allowing you to prototype rapidly, test emerging technologies, and contribute to a continuously evolving platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performance services built on modern distributed architectures. The environment is highly collaborative yet autonomous, encouraging engineers to take ownership from concept through production deployment. This is an opportunity to shape foundational cloud services while working at the intersection of innovation, scalability, and security.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain Azure-based SaaS applications and serverless Function Apps supporting production workloads.
  • Build and evolve distributed, event-driven backend architectures using Azure services such as Service Bus, Event Grid, App Services, and Storage.
  • Develop secure, high-performance REST APIs and integrate them with internal systems and third-party services.
  • Rapidly prototype and validate new ideas, contributing to research and experimentation within an R&D-focused engineering environment.
  • Ensure system reliability, scalability, performance, and responsiveness across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support continuous improvement of system stability and code quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and product teams to design and deliver new features.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud, backend, and AI technologies and apply relevant innovations to ongoing projects.
  • Contribute to CI/CD practices and automation workflows using tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and deploying production-grade applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, including Azure Functions, App Services, Service Bus, Event Grid, and Storage.
  • Proficiency in C# and .NET for backend development and system design.
  • Experience designing and implementing distributed, event-driven, or microservices-based architectures.
  • Strong understanding of secure API design and integration with external systems and services.
  • Experience working with databases such as Cosmos DB, Gremlin, and T-SQL.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, research-driven environment with evolving requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, technical curiosity, and ability to rapidly prototype solutions.
  • Experience in SaaS platforms, regulated environments, or security-focused domains is a plus.
  • Exposure to Azure AI services or OpenAI integrations is considered an advantage.
