Job Description

Staff Android Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Android Engineer in United States.

This role sits at the core of a mobile-first financial platform used by millions of customers worldwide, where Android is the primary gateway to credit and financial services. You will define the technical vision for the Android ecosystem, shaping architecture, UI systems, and engineering standards that impact large-scale user experiences. Beyond feature development, this role focuses on platform engineering—building reusable components, scalable design systems, and robust integrations that power multiple product lines. You will work closely with backend, product, and infrastructure teams to ensure high performance, reliability, and consistency across the mobile experience. This is a senior technical leadership role where you will influence roadmap direction, modernize legacy systems, and elevate engineering quality across teams. The environment is fast-moving, collaborative, and mission-driven, focused on expanding access to fair and intelligent financial products.

Accountabilities:
  • Define and lead the technical architecture of the Android platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability across multiple financial product experiences.
  • Design and build reusable UI component libraries and design systems, ensuring consistency, theme flexibility, and cross-product usability.
  • Develop and maintain complex mobile application features, including onboarding flows, multi-screen navigation, and state management systems.
  • Architect and implement secure third-party API and banking integrations, including caching strategies, error handling, and reliability improvements.
  • Build platform-level infrastructure such as deep linking systems, shared frameworks, and engineering tooling that accelerates development across teams.
  • Establish and track quality and performance standards, including crash monitoring, test coverage, and application performance optimization.
  • Lead modernization efforts by refactoring legacy code, migrating architectural patterns, and improving long-term codebase health.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with backend, product, and infrastructure teams to resolve performance, scalability, and user experience issues.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in Android development with strong expertise in native mobile application architecture and large-scale production systems.
  • Deep understanding of Android architectural patterns such as MVVM and multi-screen navigation frameworks.
  • Strong experience building and maintaining UI component systems and mobile design systems at scale.
  • Proficiency in performance optimization, including crash reduction, memory leak detection, UI rendering improvements, and ANR mitigation.
  • Experience with mobile testing practices, including unit testing, TDD methodologies, and QA automation strategies.
  • Solid experience integrating third-party APIs and working with complex backend services in production environments.
  • Technical leadership experience, including setting engineering standards, defining OKRs, and driving cross-team initiatives.
  • Bonus: exposure to cross-platform or iOS development, reactive programming, or multi-platform architecture approaches.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation ranging from $224,370 to $273,571 annually, plus equity opportunities.
  • Fully remote, virtual-first work environment with global collaboration across multiple time zones.
  • Comprehensive health coverage with flexible plans and employer subsidies.
  • Equity participation and long-term financial upside aligned with company growth.
  • Home office support, including setup reimbursement for remote work.
  • Biannual global in-person offsites to foster collaboration and team connection.
  • Flexible work culture with recognition-based growth rather than rigid promotion cycles.
  • Strong focus on learning, development, and exposure to senior leadership.
