MUST HAVE a clean driving record and have your own transportation.
- Completing excavations for residential sewer/water line jobs
- Including, but not limited to, cutting and assembling pipe fittings
- Digging shallow trenches with a shovel
- Assist in backfill and clean up after the sewer is reassembled
- Ability to follow directions well and demonstrate a sound work ethic
- Adhere to safety policies and protocol
Physical requirements of the position include being able to tolerate working outdoors year-round in elements/weather, lifting, transporting, adjusting heavy objects and equipment 75-100 lbs, bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, reaching; working in confined spaces, climbing ladders; exposure to smells associated with sewer and water; exposure to sounds associated with power tools.
The Big Task
Perform residential sewer/water line repairs and replacements. Most excavations will require the use of heavy machinery. It is a MUST that you are experienced with operating large equipment.
Key Sub Tasks
- Completing excavations for residential sewer/water line repairs/replacements, including but not limited to cutting and assembling pipe and fittings
- Perform manual labor in confined spaces and open trenches
- Backfill and clean up after the sewer is reassembled
- Ability to follow directions well and demonstrate a sound work ethic
- Interact with customers as needed
- Adhere to safety policies and protocol

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an excavation lead role or heavy equipment operation.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or lead role on excavation projects.
- Strong knowledge of excavation safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate excavation machinery.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in heavy equipment operation or construction safety (e.g., OSHA 30-hour).
- Experience with project management software and digital blueprint reading.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations related to excavation and soil management.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Previous experience working on large-scale commercial or infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct excavation crews to perform site preparation, trenching, and earthmoving tasks.
- Coordinate daily work schedules and resource allocation to optimize productivity and meet project deadlines.
- Ensure all excavation activities comply with OSHA safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Inspect excavation sites regularly to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures promptly.
- Collaborate with Sewer Specialists to interpret plans and technical specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment usage, and incident reports.
- Train and mentor crew members on best practices, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
- Manage equipment maintenance schedules and report any operational issues to management.
