Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

Body Shop Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing damaged buses and other commercial vehicles in a professional and efficient manner resulting in quality repairs for the customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Primary Responsibility, Scope of Work, KPI Management, complexity: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Perform assigned work with excellence and high quality as efficiently as possible.
  • Receive work orders and perform assigned tasks as required.
  • Inventory and maintain required personal service tools in safe condition to perform jobs assigned.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain necessary parts to complete work.
  • Inspect vehicle thoroughly to ascertain whether additional and/or safety items require attention; report any problems.
  • Keep track of time spent on each job and use time clock to record times in various segments of the work order.
  • Write clear and concise descriptions of repairs performed on various segments of work order.
  • Keep track of all types of work done and parts used.
  • Road Service Calls – travel to customers location in company service truck to perform repairs at the customers location.
  • Assist in training and development of Junior Level Technicians.
  • Advise Service Foreman/Service Manager of any delays or problems.
  • Keep work area clean and tools and supplies secure.
  • Maintain all industry related and required applicable Certifications.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Conform to all safety rules and use of appropriate safety equipment.
  • All other duties assigned.

  • Technician Performance Efficiency (minimum of 80%).
  • OEM Certification Maintenance.
  • Comeback Percentage (Less than 2%).
  • Adherence to Core Values.
  • Completion rate of assigned company training.
  • Compliance to company safety policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position may include limited supervisory responsibilities. (Training and Development)

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of ambient weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Shifts may vary. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required.

Travel

Some travel may be required for this position.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in New Bus Deliveries.
  • Assist in Facility Maintenance.
  • Perform Monthly Safety Inspection.

Requirements:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: (Please describe what is required for satisfactory job performance in each category.)

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma.
  • Technical School Diploma/Certificate
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record.
  • 1 + years’ experience in Automotive Refinishing.
  • Ability to remove trim and components to gain access for preparation of refinishing.
  • Sanding and preparing surface for refinishing.
  • Masking.
  • Minor touch up.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Vocational College or Trade/Technical School Diploma/Certificate
  • 1 + Years Professional Automotive Refinishing Experience.
