Business Development & Account Manager - A2P SMS Wholesale

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Development & Account Manager - A2P SMS Wholesale based in France.

As a Business Development & Account Manager, you will play a pivotal role in expanding international partnerships and driving commercial growth within the global A2P SMS wholesale ecosystem. Working in a dynamic and fast-growing telecommunications environment, you will manage strategic relationships with carriers, aggregators, CPaaS providers, and messaging partners across multiple regions. This role combines business development, account management, and commercial strategy, offering the opportunity to directly influence revenue growth and market expansion. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize service performance, identify new opportunities, and strengthen long-term partner relationships. Ideal for a commercially driven professional with strong industry networks, this position offers significant autonomy, international exposure, and the ability to make an immediate impact.

Accountabilities
  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the international A2P SMS wholesale market to drive sustainable revenue growth.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with SMS aggregators, telecom carriers, CPaaS providers, mobile network operators, and other key messaging ecosystem stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute regional growth strategies focused on increasing traffic volumes, profitability, and market presence.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, prepare proposals, manage pricing discussions, and support contract execution with new and existing partners.
  • Manage a portfolio of strategic international accounts, serving as the primary commercial contact and ensuring high levels of partner satisfaction and retention.
  • Identify opportunities for account expansion through traffic growth, route optimization, new service offerings, and upselling initiatives.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with partners to assess performance, strengthen relationships, and align on growth opportunities.
  • Monitor account profitability, traffic performance, delivery quality, pricing competitiveness, and overall commercial success.
  • Collaborate closely with technical, routing, product, finance, and support teams to resolve issues, improve service quality, and support operational initiatives.
  • Support onboarding processes, partner integrations, traffic migrations, and commercial launches across assigned accounts.
  • Maintain accurate sales pipelines, account plans, forecasts, and performance reports.
  • Provide market intelligence, competitor analysis, customer feedback, and commercial insights to support strategic business decisions.
Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience within the wholesale telecommunications sector, with a strong focus on A2P SMS services.
  • Proven success in business development, account management, partnership management, or wholesale sales roles delivering measurable revenue growth.
  • Current or recent experience working with an SMS aggregator, CPaaS provider, telecom carrier, messaging hub, or mobile network operator wholesale division.
  • Established network of industry contacts, including SMS aggregators, mobile network operators, telecom carriers, and messaging service providers.
  • Strong experience negotiating commercial agreements and managing strategic partnerships across multiple international markets.
  • In-depth understanding of the international A2P SMS wholesale ecosystem, including routing models, traffic flows, pricing structures, and commercial dynamics.
  • Knowledge of direct, indirect, and alternative routing models and their operational implications.
  • Familiarity with messaging regulations, compliance requirements, sender ID policies, and industry best practices.
  • Understanding of African telecommunications markets and messaging ecosystems is considered a strong advantage.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify growth opportunities and mitigate business risks.
  • Excellent relationship management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced international environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Additional European language skills are considered an asset.
