Job Description

Position Summary

ACET Aerospace is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to support corporate accounting operations within a government contracting environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and company policies, while supporting timely financial reporting and month-end close activities.

The Senior Accountant will work closely with Accounts Payable, Payroll, Project Controllers, Program Management, and Corporate Finance to process transactions, maintain general ledger integrity, support billing operations, and ensure strong internal controls. The ideal candidate possesses strong Costpoint experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced aerospace and defense environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Vendor Management

  • Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and purchase order-based voucher entry.
  • Process and reconcile employee expense reports in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform vendor setup and maintenance, ensuring all required compliance documentation is obtained and retained.
  • Conduct three-way matching of purchase orders, receiving documents, and vendor invoices.
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and receiving variances.
  • Monitor Accounts Payable aging reports and coordinate resolution of outstanding items.
  • Support year-end 1099 reporting and vendor compliance requirements.

Corporate Accounting & General Ledger Support

  • Assist with monthly and year-end close activities.
  • Support AP accrual calculations by identifying unposted vouchers and outstanding liabilities.
  • Create and process vouchers for corporate credit card transactions.
  • Match receipts to credit card charges and investigate exceptions.
  • Assist with account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Perform subledger-to-general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support audit requests and financial reporting requirements.

Labor, Payroll & Billing Support

  • Process labor transfers and labor corrections within Costpoint.
  • Ensure labor charging corrections are accurately documented and compliant with contract requirements.
  • Assist Project Controllers and Program Management with billing support activities.
  • Prepare draft invoices and supporting documentation for review and submission.
  • Support contract billing processes in accordance with customer requirements.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Maintain compliance with FAR, CAS, DCAA, and company accounting policies.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to strengthen financial controls and efficiency.
  • Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and properly documented.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, work experience equivalence can be considered in place of degree.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting government contracting (GovCon) accounting operations.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint required.
  • Experience supporting DCAA-compliant accounting systems preferred.
  • Experience with month-end close, AP processing, labor corrections, and general ledger reconciliations.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of FAR, CAS, and government contract accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Experience with aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or Department of Defense contracting environments.
  • Knowledge of WAWF, DFAS, indirect rate structures, and project accounting.
  • Experience supporting annual incurred cost submissions and DCAA audits.
