We are currently seeking a Quality Inspector to add to our growing team.
Position Summary & Objective
The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring all materials, components, and finished custom HVAC units meet company and customer quality standards. This role performs incoming, in-process, and final inspections, manages non-conformance reporting (NCR) processes, and works closely with production teams to identify, document, and resolve quality issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform incoming inspection of raw materials and components to verify compliance with specifications, drawings, and purchase requirements.
- Inspect materials such as sheet metal, piping, electrical components, and hardware for defects or deviations.
- Verify documentation, certifications, and material traceability where required.
- Conduct in-process inspections throughout fabrication, brazing, and assembly stages.
- Perform final inspections of completed HVAC units to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
- Use precision measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Identify and document non-conforming materials and products.
- Initiate and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), including clear documentation of issues and supporting data.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and purchasing teams to determine root cause and corrective actions.
- Track NCRs through resolution and ensure proper disposition (rework, repair, scrap, or use-as-is).
- Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and quality documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards, procedures, and customer requirements.
- Support audits, quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with production teams to address quality concerns and prevent recurrence.
- Provide feedback and guidance to improve processes and workmanship.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across departments.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3–5+ years of experience in quality inspection within manufacturing (HVAC, sheet metal, or similar environment preferred).
- Strong experience with Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) processes, including documentation, tracking, and resolution.
- Solid understanding of material inspection and quality control methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency with measurement tools and inspection techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with production, engineering, and leadership teams.
- Experience with quality systems, documentation, and audits preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; additional technical or quality certifications a plus.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment, noise, and industrial materials.
- Frequent walking between departments to perform inspections.
- Ability to stand, bend, and perform inspections for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 25–40 pounds.
- Exposure to dust, noise, fumes, and typical shop conditions.
- Must wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and protective footwear.
