Position Description:

As an Account Manager with The Custom Companies, you will serve as a critical link between our customers, operations teams, and transportation network across North America. This role goes far beyond customer service. You will become a trusted business partner to high-value clients, helping them solve complex logistics challenges, maintain supply chain continuity, and deliver results in fast-moving, high-pressure environments. From coordinating freight solutions and securing capacity to resolving issues with urgency and professionalism, your ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively will directly impact customer success and company growth.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an advocate and liaison for The Custom Companies’ clients to ensure overall customer satisfaction.
  • Expand assigned customer accounts through ongoing relationship and business development.
  • Communicate with internal departments to secure the terms of sale, including negotiating rates, identifying carriers and procuring the right equipment for the customer’s needs.
  • Ensure the integrity of the shipment of communication both internally and externally while following standard processes and procedures.
  • Provide support for the assigned Corporate Account Executive by quoting customers on services.
  • Analyze customer data, shipping patterns, and feedback to identify opportunities for improvement, expansion, and upsell.
  • Track and update shipment status to customers to provide superior service.
  • Confidently solve problems for the customer in a timely manner.
  • Answer a high volume of emails and phone calls while providing excellent customer service.
  • Develop different options that delivery greater value to both the client and business.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma / GED required, Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in account management, business development, sales, logistics and customer relations.
  • The ability to service multimillion dollar accounts and support the new and existing sales opportunities.
  • Prior LTL and Transportation experience needed
  • Ability to establish, cultivate and maintain working relationships with clients, vendors, and team members
  • Ability to problem solve and handle high pressure situations in a timely manner
  • Manage complex transactions promptly and professionally
  • Exude drive, assertiveness, passion and dedication to your assigned customers
  • Excellent and effective communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work-load
  • Ability to learn various software systems and an understanding of Windows based application; Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
