Safety & Security Coordinator
Reports To: Safety & Security Operations ManagerLocation: Dallas, TXClassification: Full-Time | Exempt
The Safety & Security Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and continuously improving the organization's health, safety, security, and emergency preparedness programs across all ministry locations. This exempt position exercises independent judgment in planning, evaluating, and enhancing operational safety initiatives while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Working under the direction of the Safety & Security Operations Manager, the Safety & Security Coordinator serves as a departmental resource and subject matter expert for safety programs, risk reduction, emergency preparedness, operational readiness, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Program Administration
· Coordinate and administer departmental safety programs across all campuses.
· Evaluate existing safety policies and recommend operational improvements.
· Develop, maintain, and revise safety procedures, SOPs, and operational guidelines.
· Coordinate facility inspections, compliance reviews, and corrective action tracking.
· Maintain departmental safety metrics, dashboards, and program documentation.
· Support departmental projects and ministry-wide safety initiatives.
· Coordinate annual safety goals and continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating operational data, identifying trends, and recommending corrective actions.
· Coordinate corrective action plans through completion.
Emergency Management & Preparedness
· Coordinate emergency preparedness planning, drills, and exercises.
· Review and update emergency response, evacuation, and reunification plans.
· Coordinate CPR/AED awareness and emergency response training.
· Serve as the operational liaison with first responders during planning and exercises.
· Evaluate after-action reports and implement corrective actions.
· Assist in developing emergency communication protocols.
· Coordinate post-incident reviews and lessons learned.
Operational Coordination
· Coordinate daily operational priorities with the Safety & Security Operations Manager while collaborating with the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager on compliance initiatives.
· Serve as the departmental coordinator for assigned safety, security, and emergency preparedness projects, ensuring deliverables, timelines, and departmental objectives are achieved.
· Coordinate security planning for conferences, services, and special events.
· Review incident reports for quality, accuracy, and completion.
· Coordinate and support safety investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to improve organizational safety performance.
· Monitor compliance with OSHA principles, organizational policies, and safety standards.
· Maintain compliance documentation and inspection records.
· Analyze incident trends and prepare executive summaries and recommendations.
· Support workers' compensation documentation and incident reporting.
· Coordinate contractor safety requirements for outside vendors.
Training & Development
· Lead and facilitate departmental training, safety initiatives, emergency exercises, and professional development while promoting accountability, professionalism, continuous improvement, and adherence to departmental policies and best practices.
Administrative Responsibilities
· Coordinate departmental records retention for safety, compliance, inspections, certifications, and training documentation.
· Coordinate vendor services and safety equipment inventories.
· Track project milestones and corrective actions.
· Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for leadership.
· Maintain department SOP library.
· Coordinate annual policy reviews.
· Maintain OSHA and compliance records.
· Maintain confidential personnel and operational records in accordance with organizational policies.
· Support onboarding and orientation of new Safety & Security personnel by coordinating training, certifications, and departmental expectations.
Field Support
· Conduct facility inspections and operational assessments as necessary to validate compliance with departmental standards.
· Support incident response, visitor management, and access control during major events.
· Assist with CCTV review and investigations when required.
Qualifications:
· Associate's degree in Occupational Safety, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
· Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in safety, security, emergency management, law enforcement, military service, or related field.
· Experience coordinating multi-site operations and cross-functional projects.
· Working knowledge of OSHA standards, emergency preparedness, and risk management.
· CPR/AED/First Aid certification required or obtained within 90 days.
· Experience with Omnigo, CCTV, access control, Microsoft Office, and SharePoint preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to lead teams, facilitate training, and coordinate cross-functional operational initiatives.
· Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, and professionally address sensitive employee relations matters while promoting fairness, consistency, and organizational values.

Work Conditions
Work takes place in a combination of office, campus, and event environments.Requires flexibility in working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.Exposure to varying weather conditions.May occasionally lift and move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds and respond to emergency situations requiring extended periods of standing, walking, or outdoor work.Benefits:

Schedule:
· Full-time
· Sunday through Saturday - rotating schedule based on operational requirements, including Sundays, evenings, holidays, conferences, and special events.
