Summary:
At Vighter, we take pride in partnering with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) teams to deliver compassionate healthcare services to ICE detainees and immigrant personnel waiting for asylum. We are seeking a Deputy Site Lead at the hub in Mesa, AZ and provide exceptional patient care and accountability.
Deputy Site Leads typically have demonstrated proficiency and availability with previous service as a full time Flight Registered Nurse and may fly from time to time. Deputy Site Leads will work in conjunction with the Site Lead to assist in managing flight schedules, training flight nurses, maintaining tracking boards and digital products, updating TBRONs and validating hours worked against TBRONs

Principle Accountabilities:
- Provides routine, complex and comprehensive nursing care for adult and pediatric medical patients.
- Responsible for performing a variety of unusual and complex professional nursing and administrative tasks without the benefit of close guidance.
- Assumes responsibility as the sole medical provider of care for Federal detainees with stable, unstable, and complex medical conditions.
- Independently develops and implements a comprehensive plan to meet the actual and anticipated medical needs of detainee (client) and aircraft crew.
- Anticipates and acquires resources needed for routine and unexpected medical incidents, including medical emergencies in flight.
- Proper judgment is required to prevent delays in service provision, avoid adverse impact on the health status of individuals and the population served, and reduce waste efforts and resources.
- Judgmental failure could seriously affect the health status of one or more individuals
- Review patient information while ensuring compliance with established protocols for the transportation of detainees by air.
- Administer approved medications.
- Provide medical/nursing services during flight operations.
- Ability to navigate an electronic work environment, electronic health records, web-based training, and electronic communications.
- Functional proficiency and ability to document patient-centered health care in the required electronic health record or electronic medical record, in the required format (narrative notes), in a timely manner, and in compliance with contract policy and guidance.
- Occasional schedule availability, with willingness to pick up additional shifts as needed. The desired end state is no flights canceled due to lack of manpower, 95-100% staffing and service to the patients to whom we provide care.

- Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have exceptional customer service skills.
- Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment with limited supervision
- Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills.
Education:
- ASN is required, BSN is preferred. Unencumbered Registered Nurse License is required.
Qualifications:
- One (1) year of current experience as a Registered Nurse preferably with ICU or ER experience plus one (1) year of full time Flight Registered Nurse (RN) under this contract or previous nursing leadership experience.
- Current BLS certification is required, ACLS is a preferred certification.
- U.S. Passport is required and may be used as an I-9 verification document.
- The provider shall possess the required qualification/elements to be privileged and/or credentialed in accordance with the VetPro, background checks, fingerprinting, badging, annual fit testing, and pre-employment and annual drug testing.
- The contractor’s credentials/qualifications are subject to review by Vighter staff. These qualifications at a minimum will be based on Joint Commission (JC), or equivalent, quality standards for training, education, and competency.
- Must have exceptional customer service skills.
- Must be verbally proficient in both English and Spanish (waiverable).
Duty Hours / On-call Requirements
- Generally speaking, Flights are scheduled a minimum of one week out. Show time to the flight line is a minimum of 60-90 minutes prior to wheels up (mission dependent, show times will be published by Site Lead personnel.
- Generally, most flights leave early morning and return to the U.S. the same day. However, there are times when maintenance, refueling, or weather may cause paid delays at home or abroad.
- Flights canceled are non-compensable to flight nurses or crews. We strive to give as much notice as possible in the event of a flight delay or cancelation
- Position has availabilities to work day, evening and night shifts. Availability during weekends and holidays is a possibility. Advanced notice will be provided for scheduling purposes.
Work Environment
- Location: Mesa, AZ
- Exciting, fast-paced work environment, flight line to foreign country and return.
- Days / Nights schedule with occasional early and on-call duties. The are occasional early, or “red eye,” flights with show times of 12:00 a.m. (midnight) – 2:00 a.m.

Travel:
- Frequent travel by air to domestic and international locations will be a routine part of the job.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day.

- Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
- Must be able to perform duties in an indoor office or outdoor environment.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
- Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS).
- Must be a Citizen of the United States or legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
