MFAN Associate
Position Title: MFAN Associate
Employee Type: Part-time, 18 hours per week, 4 days per week
Compensation: $23 per hour
Location: Washington, D.C. area preferred; hybrid/remote with in-person attendance as needed
Reports to: Executive Director
Position Overview
The Modernizing Foreign Assistance Network (MFAN) seeks an Associate to provide administrative and operational support for the coalition's day-to-day work. This position will play a key role in helping MFAN stay organized, responsive, and effective by supporting internal coordination, scheduling, events, and communications. This is an ideal role for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and interested in U.S. foreign assistance, global development, and public policy.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative and Operational Support
- Coordinate and schedule internal and external meetings for MFAN staff and members
- Prepare agendas, background materials, meeting notes, and follow-up items for internal and external meetings.
- Maintain calendars, track deadlines, and help manage day-to-day workflow and priorities.
- Maintain and update internal spreadsheets and tracking systems for MFAN activities, contacts, events, and outputs.
- Support logistical planning and coordination for briefings, roundtables, convenings, and other coalition events.
- Help maintain MFAN's website and support updates to digital platforms and communications materials.
- Support outreach and follow-up related to events, announcements, and coalition activities.
Research and Coalition Support
- Conduct background research on policy issues, congressional activity, partner organizations, and prospective funders.
- Help prepare briefing materials and other support documents for meetings with policymakers, funders, and partners.
- Assist with note-taking, follow-up, and coordination related to coalition meetings and external engagements.
- Support intern coordination and other special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree completed or in progress.
- Strong interest in U.S. foreign assistance, global development, humanitarian policy, and related public policy issues.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs.
- Familiarity with digital and communications tools such as WordPress, Mailchimp, LinkedIn, and X/Twitter is helpful.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or work experience in a policy, nonprofit, congressional, or communications setting.
- Experience supporting events, scheduling, or organizational operations.
