Job Description

Senior Forward Deployed Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer based in United States.

As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will serve as a strategic technical partner to large, data-intensive enterprise customers. You will own relationships across the customer lifecycle, from onboarding and enablement through retention and expansion. The role combines customer strategy, technical problem-solving, and commercial impact, with a strong focus on demonstrating measurable business value. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Solutions teams to connect customer objectives with technical capabilities. You will also contribute to pre-sales engagements and technical proof-of-concept initiatives while bringing structured customer feedback back into the product organization. This is an early-stage environment suited to an entrepreneurial professional who thrives on ownership, ambiguity, and building processes as the organization scales.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the full enterprise customer lifecycle, including onboarding, enablement, engagement, retention, renewals, and expansion.
  • Serve as the strategic point of contact for a portfolio of complex, data-intensive enterprise customers, building trusted relationships across technical and business teams.
  • Lead Customer Objective Reviews and similar strategic engagements to align stakeholders around objectives, success metrics, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with Sales to identify renewal and expansion opportunities by demonstrating tangible customer value and strengthening long-term relationships.
  • Support pre-sales activities and proof-of-concept engagements by translating customer business requirements into relevant platform capabilities and technical approaches.
  • Work closely with Solutions Engineering, Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure customer needs are understood and addressed effectively.
  • Act as the internal voice of the customer, providing Product and Engineering teams with structured, actionable feedback that can inform product improvements.
  • Translate broad business objectives into clear technical discussions and explain complex technical capabilities in terms of strategic business impact.
  • Help customers address data quality, governance, profiling, and observability challenges while guiding them toward sustainable outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of scalable customer engagement practices, processes, and playbooks within a rapidly evolving startup environment.
  • Take ownership of ambiguous or complex customer challenges and proactively develop solutions rather than relying on established playbooks.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in a strategic, customer-facing position such as Customer Success, Forward Deployed Engineering, Strategic Account Management, Client Partner, or a comparable role, preferably within B2B SaaS.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex enterprise relationships, ideally with large or Fortune 500 organizations.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with executive stakeholders, understand business priorities, and consistently demonstrate customer value.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with executives, analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to bridge business and technology by translating strategic objectives into actionable technical conversations and connecting technical capabilities to measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Solutions teams in fast-moving environments.
  • Strong ownership mindset, initiative, resilience, and willingness to operate without a fully established playbook.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, changing priorities, and the demands of an early-stage technology company.
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or dbt is a plus.
  • SQL proficiency or conceptual understanding of data profiling and data quality principles is preferred.
  • Experience with data quality, data governance, data observability, or related platforms is advantageous.
  • Previous experience supporting technical proof-of-concepts, product evaluations, or pre-sales initiatives is a plus.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product and Engineering teams in a feedback-driven environment is desirable.
Benefits:
  • Opportunity to work directly with sophisticated enterprise customers on high-impact data challenges.
  • High level of ownership and autonomy in a rapidly growing startup environment.
  • Significant exposure to Sales, Product, Engineering, Solutions, and executive stakeholders.
  • Opportunity to influence product direction through direct customer insights and feedback.
  • Flexible environment designed for professionals who thrive with autonomy and evolving priorities.
  • Opportunity to help shape customer engagement processes and scalable operating practices as the organization grows.
  • Meaningful exposure to modern data platforms, data quality, governance, and observability technologies.
  • Startup environment with opportunities to collaborate closely with founders and technical leaders.
  • Benefits and processes are evolving alongside the organization, reflecting its early-stage growth environment.
