RSi is looking to hire a Manager II position to support our NASA customer on the Marshall Engineering Technicians and Trades Support contract (METTS). The Manager II leads the Manufacturing and Fabrication Department, reporting directly to the General Manager, and interfaces daily with NASA customers. This position provides technical project leadership/supervision to assigned projects by coordinating the efforts of assigned technical staff.
This position may require occasional overtime and may include second or third shift support for 24/7 onsite or on-call support based on customer needs and contract requirements.
Summary of duties include but are not limited to:
- Provides leadership and management to ensure all technical operations of the department are accomplished to adequately meet the requirements of the Government while ensuring the safety and health of the work force and compliance with all environmental laws, regulations, and NASA/MSFC environmental standards.
- Ensures operations are conducted in a manner that will protect the Government’s property from damage. Using lower-level technical leads and supervisors, individual accomplishes these goals with a large multi-skilled workforce operating in numerous hazardous and non-hazardous work environments.
- Responsible for ensuring only qualified personnel are utilized in conducting work under this contract and, where applicable, that only individuals with proper certification conduct work that requires certification.
- Organizes project and task workloads within budget and schedule guidelines.
Required Minimum Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Manager I level: Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution or more than 2 years of experience in a related field is required.
- Manager II level: Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution or more than 5 years of experience in a related field is required
Preferred Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/IT Skills/Certifications:
- Graduate studies in related field of study
- Strong communication skillset
- Experience leading a robust manufacturing and or machine shop operations
- Coordination and leading of a dynamic workforce comprised mostly of technicians, machinists, schedulers/planners, etc.
- Management of service contract act governed positions
- Experience with ever-changing requirements, and deadlines as well as mid size manufacturing operations and robust machining operations.
Work Environment:
- Machine Shop, Laboratory, test environments, test stands, possible confined spaces
- Loud/Noisy space
Physical Environment/Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
- Must be able to bend, stoop or lift up to forty pounds occasionally
- All positions supporting the METTS III contract are contingent upon successful completion of NASA medical screenings at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter. The need for these screenings is determined based on the outcomes of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Job Assessment Questionnaire.
Other: This position is subject to a pre-employment background check. Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issues credentials and IT access/applicants must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements.
