As part of its continued growth, Ethox Chemicals is opening a new chemical plant on a 17-acre site in Pasadena, Texas, and is hiring a Industrial Electrician for its maintenance department.

Position Summary

The Industrial Electrician is responsible for performing electrical troubleshooting, predictive / preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations across the facility, with a specific focus on conduit work, motor controls, and high-voltage systems. The position plays a key role in supporting the reliability and safety of operations throughout the facility.

Shift: Standard 1st shift business hours for first ~3-4 months, then transition to 4x10s schedule, w/weekend on-call schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, bend, pull, and secure several types of conduits (EMT, rigid, flexible, etc.), including proper selection and use of fittings and supports.
  • Assist lead mechanics in complex repairs and maintenance activities, demonstrating proficiency in equipment troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Work directly with and support Operations in maintaining process equipment.
  • Read, design, and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to complete installations and repairs.
  • Maintain Electrical maintenance inventory items, collaborating directly with electrical vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Ensure proper records are kept of all systems and equipment.
  • Perform LOTO and assist other personnel with LOTO to ensure full compliance and safety.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting on electrical systems and equipment including motors, motor starter circuits, lighting, transformers, VFDs, and PLCs (24V, 110V, 240V, and 480V systems).
  • Perform electrical maintenance on the facilities, warehouses, offices, and grounds.
  • Repair and rebuild gear boxes, centrifugal pumps, control valves, vacuum pumps, and other various pieces of equipment.
  • Maintain 800hp boiler, including water softener, boiler chemical addition pumps, and chemicals. Perform daily inspections and tests as needed.
  • Maintain cooling tower chemical addition pumps and chemicals. Perform water tests as needed and record.
  • Perform daily, bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, and annual audits and inspections.
  • Work with Shop Foreman and assist mechanics in completing electrical and general maintenance tasks.
  • Perform preventive / predictive maintenance inspections and testing of MCC, electrical systems and provide feedback on equipment condition.
  • Accurately document work performed, including labor hours, materials used, and any additional information required on work orders and other forms using HxGN EAM.
  • Follow all company policies and safety procedures. Maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Maintain readiness as a Hazmat Operations-level responder.
  • Maintain certification on all current MOPs, apart from M003, M005, M008, M011, M012, M014, M018, M019, M021, M022, M026, M027, and M032.
  • Train and support less experienced mechanics as directed.
  • Function as a leader in the shop, train new hires and fellow mechanics per MOPs and general maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure quality workmanship is maintained, meeting or exceeding established productivity standards.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions to complete work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends as needed, on call is Required in accordance with on call schedule provided by Maintenance Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman, Lead Mechanic, or other members of Ethox management to ensure the smooth operation of plant functions.
Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree, technical training, or electrical certification in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a chemical manufacturing or refinery environment.
  • Proficient in conduit installation, electrical troubleshooting, and high / low-voltage systems.
  • Fluent with computer usage including CMMS software and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work at heights and in varied weather conditions.
  • Previous experience and ability to operate powered industrial trucks (forklifts, scissor lifts, man lifts.
  • Technically inclined and skilled with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to successfully interface with customers, associates, and the community.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow complex requests, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Regular and reliable attendance. Required to be on-site.

Physical Requirements

Physical ability to perform the essential job functions of the position, which includes prolonged periods of standing and walking, climbing stairs, performing repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job the employee continually works both indoors and outdoors, in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and must be able to tolerate working in changing weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to loud.
