Job purpose
The Sanitation Shift Manager is responsible for all sanitation functions: Cleaning schedules, crew responsibilities, verification of completion, etc. This individual directs and monitors the daily activities of all Supervisors, Leads, and work area employees, while ensuring the sanitation duties are done per specification, GMP compliant and, to our Food Safety Policies.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage and direct all daily activities of Sanitation Supervisors, Leads and their employees
- Efficiently supervise the cleaning crews and ensure they are GMP/Food Safety compliant
- Works closely with QA, Production, Warehouse to ensure areas are to standard
- Train and supervise Sanitation staff personnel
- Adheres to all policies and procedures relating to sanitation and food safety protocol
- Maintain and improve Sanitation cost-controls, headcounts, and sanitation efficiencies
- Model and support the CandyCo Safety Culture and strive for 100% Safety policy compliance
- Manage and update company SSOP’s
- Verifies the completion of sanitation activities
- Reports any issues or delays to sanitation to the Quality and Production Manager
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 - 3 years’ experience in a supervisor position, directing sanitation activities
- Must be trustworthy, honest, and always maintains a high degree of integrity
- Must have an excellent Safety record and a champion of a Safety culture
- An understanding of sanitation practices, risks, and HACCP is required
- Must have strong, positive leadership, communication, and organization skills
- Bilingual skills preferred, not required (English, Spanish)
- Must have strong PC skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
- Must be self-motivated with a high degree of integrity and be able to perform job duties with minimal supervision on a timely basis. Respect to others above all.
- Past job performance must reflect dependability, maturity, initiative, positive personal demeanor, excellent listener, and the ability to exercise good judgement
Working conditions
- Must be able to work any and all shifts as directed.
- Must be able to work overtime as necessary, including holidays and weekends.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Must be an avid Safety Champion and adhere to all safety programs and procedures.
Physical requirements
- Must wear non-slip, safety-resistant work shoes.
- Participation in mandatory pre-shift stretches and exercises.
- Proper use of required PPE, including hairnets, beard nets (if needed), and safety gloves.
- Must wear all required PPE when working with equipment or chemicals that require personal protection.
- Physical ability to: stand, sit at a desk, walk around the facility, lift/carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, reach, kneel, crawl, and twist.
- Must possess the ability to see, hear, and communicate with associates and others using professional etiquette.
