Job Description

Marketing & Regulatory Counsel

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Marketing & Regulatory Counsel based in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced legal professional to support marketing and regulatory compliance for consumer health and personal care products. In this role, you will work closely with marketing teams to review advertising campaigns, product claims, and labeling for a range of regulated products. You will help navigate complex regulatory requirements while protecting the business from potential litigation and compliance risks. Combining legal expertise with commercial awareness, you will provide practical, timely guidance that enables teams to pursue innovative marketing strategies responsibly. This remote opportunity is ideal for a proactive attorney who enjoys collaborating across functions, making sound risk-based decisions, and balancing legal considerations with business objectives.

Accountabilities
  • Review and approve advertising campaigns, marketing materials, product claims, and product labeling to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assess product claims to determine the relevant regulatory classification and the level of scientific or other substantiation required.
  • Advise marketing teams on regulatory requirements, identifying practical, commercially viable solutions that support business goals.
  • Evaluate potential litigation exposure and regulatory risks associated with advertising practices, labeling, and product claims.
  • Make independent legal and risk-management decisions, taking ownership of recommendations and escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel when necessary to address complex regulatory questions or potential disputes.
  • Deliver clear, timely, and actionable legal guidance in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities with limited supervision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support compliant marketing initiatives while maintaining an appropriate balance between risk mitigation and commercial growth.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification, with an active license to practice law in an applicable U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on advertising, labeling, and product claims for regulated consumer products.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory frameworks governing over-the-counter (OTC) products, oral care, cosmetics, homeopathic products, or comparable consumer health and personal care categories.
  • Experience evaluating claims substantiation and identifying potential regulatory, litigation, and compliance risks.
  • Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable recommendations for non-legal stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to balance legal exposure with broader business objectives without unnecessarily restricting marketing activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with marketing teams and external counsel in a dynamic environment.
  • Preferred qualifications: Experience supporting OTC consumer products or working within the consumer health or consumer products industry, as well as experience advising multiple marketing teams and coordinating with outside counsel.
Benefits
  • Estimated annual compensation: The advertised total compensation range for full-time attorney roles is $104,500–$325,000, depending on experience, qualifications, skills, location, and business needs.
  • Healthcare coverage: Potential eligibility for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off: Paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
  • Remote flexibility: Flexible work arrangements that support work-life balance.
  • Professional development: Access to development opportunities and professional tools to support continued learning and career growth.
  • Varied legal experience: Opportunities to contribute to meaningful client work across regulated consumer products and marketing matters.
  • Collaborative environment: Work with cross-functional teams and legal professionals on complex, business-oriented challenges.
