Job Description

POSITION: Parking Technician

REPORTS TO: Landside Supervisor

LOCATION: New York Stewart International Airport (SWF)

SUMMARY

This position is an ambassador of the company and professional, ethical conduct is critical at all times. Responsible for the timely and efficient monitoring of the Parking Control System and responding to all Customer Parking problems in the Terminal Parking Lot. In addition, Customer Service Representative Job duties will be required. Shift work, including weekends, is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Meet & greet terminal patrons and provide directions or other assistance, as requested, while always presenting a friendly, helpful image of the Airport.
  • Participation in customer feedback programs including administering surveys to the traveling public.
  • Monitor the PARCS system in the command center
  • Be familiar with Bus and Train Schedules and other Transportation Options to and from the airport
  • Complete understanding of the Parking Control System and the ability to troubleshoot and correct problems as they arise.
  • Be able to accurately quote parking fees and schedules as well as current flight destinations and days available.
  • Be able to correctly explain Stewart International Airport parking policies and procedures to customers, as needed.
  • Be able to solve problems as they arise at the “Point of Sale” concerning “Pay on Foot” machines, lost tickets, allowable discounts or validation issues, as well as answer questions concerning charges.
  • Report and document incidents; call Operations and notify supervisor immediately reporting any safety concerns immediately to the terminal supervisor.
  • Responsible for knowing and adhering to all company and airport policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and professional workspace and environment at all times.
  • Assist the custodial and maintenance staff concerning health and safety procedures – this may include light disinfecting and cleansing duties throughout the terminal
  • Must be familiar with and adhere to all terminal safety and security rules, as well as possess keen observational skills.
  • Uniforms will be required.
  • Participate in Total Quality Management Programs.
  • May be required to assist other terminal departments as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must speak fluent English
  • Must have excellent communications and people skills
  • Must pass customer service training and ability to be trained on the parking system.
  • Basic knowledge of the geographical area and available transportation options.
  • Must understand and follow the Port Authority Customer Care Airport Standards
  • Successfully complete Customer Service Program Training and Parking Control Center Training

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prior experience in customer service and some computer knowledge a plus. Ability to use MS Office products a plus. Able to work flexible hours. Fluent in Spanish also a plus.
