Description:

Job Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs and coordinates manufacturing processes.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods.
  2. Confers with planning and project engineers concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  3. Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  4. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications.
  5. Purchases equipment, materials or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  6. Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  7. Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  8. Responsible for maintenance activities at the facility that could generate hazardous waste and other environmental management responsibilities.
  9. Performs other work related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Required Knowledge and Skills/Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility.
  3. Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for all employees of Tech Ord.
  4. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a mechanical, electrical or manufacturing focus preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  5. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and ability to develop and implement manufacturing procedures.
  6. Ability to learn and become proficient in any internal computer systems and applications.
  7. Basic understanding of electronic components and the ability to read/understand schematics preferred.
  8. Ability to communicate and document effectively in English.
  9. Function Specific RCRA training upon hire.
  10. Ability to work effectively with other employees as part of a team. .
  11. Ability to establish priorities and multi-task in support of end-result/goal.
  12. Excellent organizational skills.

While performing the duties of this job:

  1. Ability to talk and hear in order to communicate with others.
  2. Frequent seated work is required.
  3. Extensive computer use is required.
  4. Frequently required to stand and/or walk both indoors and outdoors.
  5. Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and have ability to reach with hands and arms.
  6. Lifting of 10 pounds is required. Rarely required to move materials by either lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50-pounds and greater than 50 pounds with assistance.
  7. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus when viewing a computer monitor.
  8. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives.
  9. Ear protection is required as identified throughout the facility.
  10. Where required employees must wear a minimum of 50 percent cotton clothing including undergarments to mitigate electrostatic discharge (ESD). Employees must also wear company issued safety footwear.
