Crating and Shipping in Montesano, Washington at VAUGHAN CO INC

Position Summary

Crating is responsible for preparing finished products for safe and accurate shipment. This position builds custom crates, processes shipping documentation, and loads outbound freight while ensuring products are protected and shipped according to customer and company requirements. The role requires attention to detail, safe equipment operation, and the ability to work efficiently in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties

• Build custom crates and packaging to protect products during transit.
• Measure products and materials to ensure proper crate dimensions and secure packaging.
• Prepare outgoing shipments and completing all required shipping documentation.
• Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
• Operate power saws, hand tools, pneumatic tools, and other equipment safely.
• Inspect crates for quality and compliance with shipping requirements.
• Verify shipment accuracy against work orders, packing lists, and bills of lading.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies, quality standards, and procedures.
• Assist with inventory movement and other warehouse or shipping duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous shipping, warehouse, crating, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
• Basic math and measuring skills.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, packing lists, and shipping documents.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally more with assistance or lifting equipment.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and moving equipment.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
