This is a senior technical leadership role focused on building and scaling the financial data infrastructure that powers critical insurance operations such as commissions, incentives, and payment systems. You will design and evolve high-scale data platforms that ensure accuracy, reliability, and performance across complex financial workflows. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering, finance, and product, requiring close collaboration with stakeholders across multiple domains. You will lead architectural decisions, define technical strategy, and drive execution of systems that support high-stakes financial processes. In addition, you will help build tooling and platforms that enable faster data onboarding, experimentation, and analytics for data science and finance teams. This is a highly impactful position where your work will influence both business outcomes and system-wide reliability over the long term. The environment is fast-moving, cross-functional, and deeply technical, with a strong emphasis on ownership and engineering excellence.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the design and evolution of scalable financial data systems supporting commissions, incentives, payments, and related backend financial workflows
  • Build and maintain robust data pipelines using modern distributed systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and performance at scale
  • Define technical strategy and roadmap for financial data operations in collaboration with Finance, Product, Data Science, and Engineering stakeholders
  • Develop platform-level tooling that enables faster onboarding of new data sources and improved experimentation cycles
  • Contribute directly to codebases, including Python, SQL, Spark, and Terraform, to deliver high-impact engineering solutions
  • Establish and promote engineering best practices and standards across teams in collaboration with other senior engineers
  • Lead incident response efforts and drive long-term improvements in system resiliency and reliability
  • Mentor and guide engineers in technical execution, architecture decisions, and strategic project planning
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong focus on data engineering or backend systems
  • Deep expertise in Python, SQL, Spark, and Terraform
  • Strong experience building large-scale financial, payments, commissions, or incentive-based systems
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and modern data architecture patterns
  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi-team technical initiatives across functional domains
  • Strong understanding of scalable data pipeline design, distributed systems, and data reliability principles
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical teams and senior business stakeholders
  • Strong leadership mindset with ability to influence architecture and technical direction without direct authority
  • Experience in incident response and production system reliability improvements
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $168,600 to $215,000 USD
  • Performance-based bonus and equity compensation opportunities
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Remote-friendly work environment within the United States
  • Flexible work location policy supporting “work where it works best” approach
  • Equity participation in a fast-growing technology company
  • Support for professional growth and technical development
  • Opportunity to work on high-impact financial systems shaping core business operations
