POSITION: Janitor

SHIFT: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. -- 5 days on, 2 off

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Cleaning, sanitizing, and tidying all assigned areas of facility within established guidelines.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Responsibility for providing cleanliness of assigned areas, care of equipment, and efficient use of supplies.
2. Sweeps, damp mops, and buffs floors in tile halls and foyers daily
3. Vacuums carpeted areas daily
4. Empties and cleans trash cans and garbage containers
5. Sweeps and cleans outside porches
6. Assists with movement and storage of furniture
7. Assists with storage and upkeep of equipment and supplies
8. Scrubs, strips, and waxes floors regularly, as appropriate (remove strips and waxes)
9. Keeps janitorial equipment and storage area clean and neat
10. Daily trash pick-up
11. Prepares vacant apartments for new renters
12. Completes work orders in a timely manner as reported by staff and residents
13. Maintain awareness of environmental safety
14. Changes AC filters per schedule
15. Assist with light maintenance duties

Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 90 pounds.
• Extensive walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, sweeping

• Must be able to work overtime as required.
• Well organized and self-motivated.
• Ability to read, speak, write, and follow oral and written instructions
• Experience with the use of housekeeping devices and machines
