Production Supervisor - 3rd Shift

Position Purpose:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for coaching and supporting a production team of 15-20 employees in safety, work allocation, standard operating procedures, equipment control, CI, and quality control, to achieve production goals.

Main Responsibilities:

The main activities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain safe working environment for the employees, following safety program requirements and procedures. Ensure work area is in compliance with all environmental laws.
  • Must take on ownership and be accountable for department’s performance and results
  • Carries out Team Leader responsibilities in accordance with the Luxfer Production System requirements (CI, Lean), company policies, and applicable laws.
  • Improve individual and team skills, work flow, processes, procedures, and equipment utilizing CI and TQM methods. Facilitate local improvement and KPI targets. Facilitation/execution of local improvement ideas. Utilization of TQM tools to continually decrease quality errors.
  • Develop & maintain 5S program, SOP’s, skills matrix, skills improvement activities, and 1-3-1 cross-training.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs that promote the internal customer/supplier relationship within the manufacturing operations. Utilize the total quality management tools to consistently identify and reduce operational defects.
  • Counsel team members as necessary regarding work-related or personal (as requested) issues.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training team members.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow utilizing the team concept.
  • Issue written and oral instructions to team members.
  • Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain necessary supplies to ensure continuous uninterrupted operations.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve overall efficiency of work cell.
  • Responsible for knowing and controlling costs in assigned areas, i.e. equipment costs, labor costs, material costs, etc.
  • Maintain harmony among employees and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Prepare composite reports from individual reports of subordinates as required.
  • Monitor team performance versus key performance measures and facilitate actions to correct any deficiencies.
  • Identify training requirements for each team member, utilizing team development plan.
  • Interface with other Team Leaders as necessary to coordinate workflow of assigned areas.
  • Communicate at least daily with Director of Operations as to problems, concerns and achievements within area of responsibility.
  • As required, assist employees in performing duties.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology or related field desired; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience acceptable.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be very well organized and multi-task oriented.
  • Must be able to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work well with all types and levels of team members is a must.
  • Must have excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentations.

Compensation Range: $70,500 to $80,000
