Job Description

Monte Sano Research Corporation (MSRC) is a Huntsville-based Small Business specializing in providing full-spectrum defense system engineering, research, design, development, integration, test, evaluation, and planning services to the U.S. Government.

MSRC is seeking an individual with extensive knowledge and experience with incoming and outgoing ammunition and explosives shipments, and experience coordinating with the Ammunition Supply Point (ASP), Quality Assurance Specialist, Ammunition Surveillance (QASAS), and LRC Transportation Inbound/Outbound Freight sections. This position would deal with monthly A&E inventories, resolve discrepancies, and maintain audit-ready records. It would oversee accountability, safety, storage, and documentation of the stockpile of A&E using Aviation and Missile Commands Ammunition Tracking System (AMCATS) and process required AvMC ammunition and explosives forms submitted.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support AvMC Fires Directorate with incoming and outgoing shipments of ammunition and explosives.
  • Coordinate with Ammunition Supply Point (ASP) and Quality Assurance Specialist Ammunition Surveillance (QASAS), LRC TRANS Outbound/Inbound Freight sections as needed for A&E shipments.
  • Assist, coordinate, and validate monthly A&E inventories, investigate discrepancies, and maintain audit-ready records and regulatory documentation.
  • Manage accountability, safety, storage, and documentation for ammunition and explosives stockpile across magazines and operating buildings through Aviation and Missile Command Ammunition Tracking System (AMCATS).
  • Submit DOD/Local forms associated with but not limited to ammunition turn ins, Requisition and Invoice/Shipping Document, Incoming A&E Inbound Control Number Request Form, MCN Request, Request to Ship, Funds Verification & Use Authorization (FVUA), and review/coordinate Interim Hazard Classifications (IHC).
  • Perform and coordinate spot-inspection of explosive safety and OSHA-focused facility, including, licensing, coordinating corrective actions, and briefings to leadership on A&E compliance.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum 20 years of experience with handling and shipping of ammunition and explosives.
  • Knowledge of DOD and DOT transportation regulations.
  • Experience coordinating with ASP, QASAS, TRANS, DDESB, DAC, AMCOM & AvMC Safety offices, and other command and local entities on shipments, inspections, and compliance.
  • Experience with conducting A&E inventories and audits.
  • Experience managing large, high-value ammunition and explosives stockpiles using AMCATS systems.
  • Proficiency with DA and DoD forms and standards (DA Form 581, DD Forms 1149/1348-1, 626; TB 700-2; DOT regulations; MIL-STD-129; IHC/LIHC/JHCS)
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and execute munitions control and customer service support for production, testing, and maintenance operations.
  • Certified to inspect A&E transport vehicles and knowledgeable in explosive site plans, licenses, lightning protection, static dissipation, and security construction standards.
  • Demonstrated expertise in explosive and occupational safety (OSHA), including facility safety oversight, storage compatibility, net explosive weight limits, and corrective action tracking.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Candidate must currently possess and be able to maintain an active security clearance.
  • Candidate must have had DAC-AMMO 62, Transportation of Hazardous Materials Certification training, at some point within career.
