Position Overview
The Bar Manager is responsible for the daily leadership, operation, and financial performance of all bar operations within the Club. This position ensures an exceptional member and guest experience by maintaining the highest standards of hospitality, beverage quality, cleanliness, and team leadership. The Bar Manager develops and mentors staff, oversees inventory and purchasing, drives beverage revenue, maintains compliance with all alcohol service regulations, and creates an engaging atmosphere that reflects the Club's commitment to excellence.
This leader works collaboratively with culinary, dining room, banquet, golf, and event teams to deliver seamless service while fostering a positive and professional work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Lead, coach, and motivate bartenders, bar servers, and beverage support staff.
• Recruit, interview, onboard, and train new employees according to Club standards.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching.
• Create employee schedules based on business volume while managing labor costs.
• Foster teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a positive culture.
• Address employee concerns promptly and professionally.
• Ensure compliance with all Club policies and employee handbook standards.
• Deliver outstanding hospitality and personalized service to members and guests.
• Build strong relationships with members by learning preferences and anticipating needs.
• Resolve member concerns quickly and professionally.
• Maintain an inviting, welcoming, and energetic bar atmosphere.
• Ensure consistency in beverage preparation and presentation.
• Collaborate with management to continually elevate the member experience.
• Oversee all daily bar operations including opening, service, and closing procedures.
• Maintain quality standards for cocktails, wine, beer, coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages.
• Develop and update seasonal cocktail menus and beverage features.
• Ensure recipes and portion controls are consistently followed.
• Monitor product freshness, rotation, and storage.
• Maintain attractive and organized bar displays.
• Order liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, and bar supplies.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing waste.
• Perform weekly and monthly inventory counts.
• Analyze beverage cost percentages and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Investigate inventory variances and implement corrective action.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate pricing where appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local alcohol regulations.
• Verify proper age identification procedures.
• Maintain responsible alcohol service standards.
• Ensure sanitation and food safety standards are consistently followed.
• Maintain a safe working environment for employees and members.
• Participate in Club safety initiatives and emergency procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Minimum 3–5 years of progressive bar management experience.
• Private club, luxury hospitality, resort, or fine dining experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, beers, and craft cocktails.
• Proven leadership and team development skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to analyze financial reports and budgets.
• Proficiency with POS systems and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Credentials and Experience:
• Certified Food Protection Manager (ServSafe Manager or equivalent)
• Responsible Alcohol Service Certification (ServSafe Alcohol, TIPS, or equivalent)
• CPR/AED Certification (preferred)
• Wine or spirits certifications (WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, Certified Specialist of Wine, or equivalent) are a plus.
