Job Description
I. Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for coordinating the provision of Human Resources Department's services, policies and programs for the Firm in the following areas: recruiting and staffing; employment and compliance; employee orientation; policy development and documentation; and employee relations. Additionally, the HR Generalist is responsible for assisting the Director of Policy, Partner Engagement & Talent in operation of established training and review processes.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage the day-to-day delivery of Firm-wide human resources services and programs to Firm employees
• Create, design, develop and implement new human resource programs and services which address and meet the needs of the Firm
• Support Director of Policy, Partner Engagement & Talent in established training and review programs
• Research best policies and practices to limit legal issues regarding employment
• Serve as an advocate for employees to management and for management to employees, while always guarding the interests of the Firm
• Maintain confidential HR information with a high level of discretion while preparing clear and accurate documentation
• Determine and recommend employee relations and conflict resolution practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation
• Manage and optimize use of ADP for payroll coordination, benefits, and employee data
• Use HR systems and tools, including ADP, to support personnel administration and reporting needs
• Define, develop and execute human resources-related training and development activities for staff and attorneys
• Monitor and advise department managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the Firm
• Review and guide department manager recommendations for employment terminations
• Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding
III. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Superior communications skills (written, verbal, listening and presentation)
• Ability to conceptualize, organize, plan, implement and evaluate human resources-related programs and services
• Ability to effectively relate with people of various backgrounds
• Proficiency in using computers and related software applications efficiently (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, ADP, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal skills with a professional and approachable demeanor.
• Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with business leaders and managers.
• Broad knowledge of the human resources profession; substantive knowledge of at least 5 disciplines within human resources management.
IV. Education & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree is required.
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus
• A minimum of 3+ years of HR Generalist or HR Specialist experience is required.
• Broad knowledge of the human resources profession; substantive knowledge of at least 5 disciplines within human resources management.
• Strong working knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance is required.
• Experience in employee relations, compliance, and HR investigations is required.
• Proficiency with ADP TotalSource (Workforce Now) or similar HR platform is required.
