Summary:
Vighter is recruiting Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to conduct basic screening assessments and provide healthcare services to individuals at the VA Medical Center in Louisville, KY.

Principle Accountabilities:
- Prepare examination rooms prior to patient's arrival. Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
- Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight and blood pressure.
- Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies and vital signs on the correct form.
- Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
- Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of examination rooms.
- Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
- Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released.

- Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have exceptional customer service skills.
- Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment with limited supervision
- Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills.
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Certification is required.
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of one year of experience in a clinical setting. Qualifying experience includes hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided direct patient care.
- Must possess a current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from one of the following approved organizations: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for health care providers, AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, American Red Cross CPB/BLS for the professional rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI).
Duty Hours / On-call Requirements:
- The expected duty hours for this position are 8 hours per day and 5 days per week. However, this position supports 24/7 operations which may require work to be conducted at night and on weekends.
- There are shift opportunities Days, evenings, nights and weekend shifts are available.
Work Environment:
- Location: VAMC, Louisville, KY

Travel:
- As required to satisfy the contractual obligations. Commuting is non-compensatory. All official travel is government funded.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day.
- Must be willing to work overtime if necessary.
- Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.
- Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
- Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
- Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
- Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS).
- Must be a Citizen of the United States or legally authorized to work in the United States of America.

a) Normal working hours: Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 pm., 3 p.m.- 11 p.m., 11 p.m. – 7 a.m., 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. and 7 p.m.- 7 a.m., excluding Federal holidays.
b) Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) shall provide a tour which consists of eight (8) working hours with a 30-minute meal break (non-paid) and two 15-minute breaks (paid).
c) Off Duty Hours: None.
d) Federal Holidays: The eleven (11) holidays observed by the Federal Government are:

• Christmas
Any other day specifically declared by the President of the United States to be a federal holiday. When one of the holidays falls on Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed as a Federal Holiday. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be observed as a Federal Holiday.
