Job Title: Assistant Pastry Chef

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: 

Assist in the preparation of ingredients for pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goodsAccurately measure and mix ingredients according to established recipesOperate baking equipment such as mixers, ovens, and proofing cabinetsHelp decorate cakes, tarts, and plated desserts in line with presentation standardsFollow recipes and guidelines set by the Pastry Chef to ensure consistencyMaintain high standards for taste, texture, and appearancePerform quality checks throughout and after the preparation processKeep the pastry station clean, organized, and properly stockedUphold hygiene and food safety standards at all timesWash and sanitize tools, equipment, and work surfaces regularlyAssist with inventory checks and restocking of pastry ingredientsNotify the Pastry Chef or purchasing team of low stock or spoiled itemsHelp receive and properly store deliveriesWork efficiently to meet production deadlines, particularly during peak service timesAssist with mise en place to ensure readiness for daily service and eventsCommunicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate dessert service with meal coursesSupport the Pastry Chef in training junior team members or internsTake responsibility for managing the pastry station in the Pastry Chef’s absenceStay informed about current pastry trends, techniques, and seasonal updatesLearn new recipes and refine baking skills under the guidance of the Pastry Chef

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Minimum of 5 years of experience in pastry artsStrong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to maintain effective relationships with members, management, staff, ownership, prospective buyers, and vendorsExcellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail and qualityEnjoys working with members, guests, and children in a friendly and engaging mannerProven ability to motivate and lead team members with strong interpersonal and human relations skillsCapable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environmentAble to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing conditions, and perform well under pressureHigh level of personal accountability and strong work ethicSelf-motivated with the ability to stay organized and manage time effectively

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or GED required; an associate’s degree in Baking and Pastry Arts or equivalent relevant work experience is preferred.

APPROXIMATE SCHEDULE AND HOURS:

Weekdays, weekends, and Holidays, schedule flexible as business dictates.

Soliciting gratuities from members or guests is strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Gratuities include items such as cash, favors, gifts, tickets to events and other forms of non-financial compensation. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: 

Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and meet the driver safety policy requirements.

Physical Demands and Work Environment  

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Our property sits on 767 acres and features many indoor and outdoor facilities that make up the work environment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and move around for the entirety or majority of their shift. The employee may be working outside or inside and in different types of weather including excessive heat, cold temperatures, rain and sunshine. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is also regularly required to push, pull, bend, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Likely this role will require the ability to drive a golf cart to transport from one area of the property to another in a safe and secure manner.
