Quality Specialist - CMMI
The Quality Specialist will support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organization's Quality Management System (QMS), with a primary focus on preparing for and supporting a first-time CMMI Level 2 appraisal for the Services domain. This role will partner cross-functionally to ensure processes are defined, documented, implemented, and consistently followed in alignment with CMMI requirements and organizational objectives. The position requires a hands-on approach to process deployment, evidence collection, training support, and audit readiness activities.
Key Responsibilities:
CMMI Implementation & Appraisal Readiness
- Support the deployment and institutionalization of CMMI Level 2 practices across Services-related functions
- Assist in the interpretation and implementation of applicable CMMI practices (e.g., Requirements Management, Configuration Management, Measurement & Analysis, Process & Product Quality Assurance, Supplier Agreement Management, etc.)
- Coordinate and support appraisal preparation activities, including: Evidence identification, collection, and validation; Artifact mapping to CMMI practices; Gap analysis and remediation tracking
- Participate in internal readiness reviews and mock appraisals
Process Documentation & Standardization
- Develop, update, and maintain SOPs, procedures, templates, and job aids aligned with both CMMI and ISO 9001:2015 requirements
- Ensure documented processes are clearly defined, version-controlled, and effectively communicated to stakeholders
- Support the integration of CMMI practices into the organization's existing QMS (e.g., eQMS/Unifize)
Process Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Conduct internal process and compliance checks to verify adherence to defined procedures
- Support PPQA (Process and Product Quality Assurance) activities by: Documenting noncompliance issues; Tracking corrective actions; Verifying implementation and effectiveness
Training & Stakeholder Support
- Assist in developing and delivering training related to new or updated processes
- Provide guidance to process owners and teams on CMMI expectations and required artifacts
- Support audit interview preparation for stakeholders participating in appraisal activities
Metrics & Continuous Improvement
- Support the definition and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with CMMI Measurement & Analysis practices
- Assist in analyzing process performance data and identifying improvement opportunities
- Contribute to CAPA and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, Quality Management, Information Technology, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience in quality assurance, process improvement, or compliance roles
- Experience supporting process implementation initiatives or audits (ISO 9001, CMMI, or similar frameworks) preferred
Certifications (Preferred)
- CMMI Associate Certification (preferred)
- ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor or equivalent (a plus)
Required Skills & Competencies
- Working knowledge of process documentation and quality management principles
- Familiarity with CMMI framework concepts (Services domain preferred)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through on deliverables
- Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with eQMS platforms is a plus
