Irrigation Technician for the SPRING of 2027 in St Johns, Michigan at Smith Lawnscapes, LLC

Smith Lawnscapes LLC, a family-oriented landscape construction and maintenance company, is seeking a dependable Irrgiation Techician to join our dedicated team.

• Install, repair, and maintain residential and commercial irrigation systems
• Thoroughly test, diagnose, and resolve irrigation system problems
• Install, test, adjust, and repair sprinkler heads, pop-ups, and rotors
• Install, program, reprogram, and maintain controllers, clocks, timers, and rain sensors
• Diagnose and troubleshoot valves, electrical components, wiring, water pressure, and hydraulic issues
• Locate and repair broken or leaking irrigation pipes
• Inspect plumbing taps and backflow preventers
• Conduct complete irrigation system inspections for proper coverage and efficiency
• Perform residential and commercial spring turn-ons and fall winterizations
• Assist with irrigation system layout and installation to ensure proper water distribution and conservation
• Operate irrigation equipment, machinery, and tools safely and responsibly
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding system operation, repairs, and recommendations
• Ensure all work meets Smith Lawnscapes' quality and safety standards
• Assist other departments as needed during seasonal changes

• Irrigation installation and/or service experience preferred
• 2+ years of irrigation experience is a plus, but not required
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Basic understanding of irrigation electrical systems is preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team
• Willingness to learn new systems, equipment, and techniques
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds, bend, kneel, crouch, and dig for extended periods
• Ability to safely operate required equipment, machinery, and hand tools

Working Conditions:

Fast paced environment, outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold. Some weekends may be required.
