Position Overview & Purpose

The Field Services Technician will be the face of LiveOak Fiber to each of our customers as you install and maintain their new service. This role is key to our success in the market, and we are seeking the very best to staff these positions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Installs and repairs Active and Passive Optical Network systems in compliance with company technical standards from consumer service to exterior drop location.

· Install interior wiring

· Connect peripheral equipment

· Train customers on proper use of equipment

· Understand/apply FCC and NESC technical standards

· Maintain professional appearance and behavior at all times

· Maintain excellent attendance

· Responsible for motor vehicle per company policy including equipment & tool inventory, vehicle security and vehicle maintenance

· Performs network troubleshooting including ping test, trace routes and speed test

· Other duties as assigned - which may include training other employees

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Strong oral and written communications skills

· Outstanding working knowledge of Fiber based Field Operations

· Demonstrated leadership and teambuilding skills, including in cross functional teams and situations

· Process oriented, automation forward thinker

· Strong leadership and motivational skills to steer large field organization

Basic Qualifications & Competencies

· Able to interact with customers to present technical information to a non-technical audience

· Able to work independently

· Able to accurately measure distances using tapes and other measuring devices

· Able to accurately maintain records, logs, reports, work orders, etc.

· Able to handle escalations and time-critical issues

· Able to read street maps

· Able to work flexible hours as required, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts

· Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record

· Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications & Competencies

· 2 years’ experience as a field service technician

· Electrical or industry certifications

· You LOVE field services

  • Walking- up to 40%
  • Standing- up to 35%
  • Reaching- up to 55%
  • Lifting and/or bending- up to 55%
  • Work environment- indoors and outdoors
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Travel: up to 10%
