Job Description


The Role:
  • Run discovery that uncovers customers' real analytic goals and challenges, not just their stated requirements.
  • Present and articulate the platform's business value to audiences ranging from practitioners to executives.
  • Demonstrate the product in ways that clearly differentiate us from the competition.
  • Define and run product evaluations, working hands-on with customers' own data.
  • Learn continuously and share what you learn — knowledge compounds across the team.
  • Manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously without losing momentum on any of them.
  • Bring self-motivation, flexibility, and initiative to every engagement.
  • Partner with sales to shape and execute account strategy.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with customer champions and ThoughtSpot Account Executives, keeping every activity aligned to customer and company success — we work for our users, not just the deal.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years experience as a solutions engineer (presales) with a focus on BI/data/analytics
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL
  • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript or Python (preferred)
  • Advanced understanding of data modeling concepts and best practices
  • Hands-on experience with common database technologies such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Microsoft Synapse, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar
  • Experience with BI tools such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, Looker, or similar
  • Ability to grasp customer needs and suggest timely solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior presentation and demonstration skills for technical and business audiences
  • Broad understanding of cloud computing and the ability to articulate its benefits
  • Comfort working independently in a fast-changing environment
  • - Ambitious, curious, and self-motivated, with a strong interest in both sales and technology
  • - Highly coachable, with a genuine desire to improve and grow
  • - Strong initiative and a positive attitude
  • - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • - Willing to mentor and enable junior members of the team
  • - Able to travel as needed

Spotters are expected in-office 3+ days per week to be part of the energy of their local team. Mandatory and Required Skills for All ThoughtSpot Roles

Spotters are expected to demonstrate AI literacy and workflow integration to include to ability to:

  • Comfortably and confidently integrate artificial intelligence into their daily workflow to increase productivity and quality.
  • Hands-on experience to leverage AI tools (industry-leading LLMs) to increase productivity, automate routine tasks, and improve work quality.
  • Speak to the experience of using AI for research, content creation, and document summarization while maintaining ownership of judgment and final decisions.
  • Write effective prompts to get the most accurate and creative results from AI tools.

Spotters are expected to exemplify these key traits and AI Mindset:

  • Curiosity in exploring new AI tools
  • Adaptability to quickly learn and implement new, emerging AI technologies
  • Critical thinking to know when to identify when AI should be used versus when human judgement is necessary
